---- Chapter 11 Charles ' heartless attitude only made Lilith and her wedding dress seem even more ridiculous. "Charles ..."" Lilith started , her lips trembling as she tried to explain, saying, ''The fire broke out so suddenly, so it was only natural that I got scared. You can't give me a death sentence just because of that!" She then turned her aim at me. "And she purposely ran into the fire, hoping it would move you and destroy our relationship!
"Charles , you've only been with her for four years, but we're childhood sweethearts! We've been by each other's side for more than ten years! Are you really going to throw me away?" Ihad to admit, Lilith was smart. She guessed the intention behind my actions right away. Unfortunately , she was dumb. Charles was no saint. Of course, he was going to blame her. He had blamed her four years ago, and he was going to blame her again now.
If Charles hadn't blamed her, then he wouldn't have allowed me to be her stand-in for the past four years. "Lily," Charles suddenly called out, his voice gentle. ---- Lilith's eyes lit up while my heart sank. Could I have underestimated his feelings for her? "You were the one who discarded me first." With that one remark, the light went out of Lilith's eyes, and my heart found its way back to its place.

"Why are you spacing out?" Charles lowered his head to study me, then he slowly leaned in and licked the corner of my lips. "You've got cream on your lips," he said casually, not bothering to hide how intimate he was with me. That meant he had completely let go of Lilith. It was understandable .
Her leaving the country before their wedding had left a stain, and now, when compared to how I was willing to risk my life, it was clear that my sincerity was rare and precious, whereas Lilith's feelings were worth nothing. Charles might not love me, but he still chose me. Lilith had been spoiled by him for so many years and had never suffered such humiliation before. Thus, the glare she sent my way was particularly venomous. "Charles, do you...
Do you not love me anymore?" She started to grow frantic as she pointed a finger at me. "Don't tell me you've actually fallen for this two- faced, manipulative bitch?" ---- Two -faced, manipulative bitch? She actually called me the right name for once. However , Charles didn't like the sound of that. The temperature around him dropped, and his eyes looked like they had been dipped in ice. "Get out!" he yelled , not even sparing her a glance. "Charles, I won't leave! Charles..." she wailed.
A bodyguard came over and dragged her out. "Charles, you'll regret this! You don't even know who this woman beside you is! She's only acting! She's been lying to you this whole time! Charles..." For a second , my heart leaped into my throat. I was worried that Lilith, in a fit of rage, would expose my identity ahead of time. Luckily, Lilith still had her reservations and stopped herself from exposing me as a fake heiress at the last minute.
Charles had fallen silent by the time Lilith was finally dragged out. Regardless of everything, the two had been childhood sweethearts, and it wasn't easy to cut offa relationship of over ten years. All the emotions flying around had probably stressed his heart, and Charles' face looked a little frail.
