As Maverick peered through the door crack, he saw Andrew pinning Yana down on the bed, roughly having his way with her.
She wasn't fighting back. On the contrary, she seemed to be enjoying it. Maverick couldn't believe what he was seeing. His breath grew heavier , and his eyes widened in shock. Andrew's laughter drifted through the door. "So, how do you plan to repay me? I risked my life lying for you. You know how Maverick is. If he finds out Constance was the one who saved him eight years ago, he'll lose it. And when he realizes he's spent all this time hurting her because of you, he'll kill me.
"And to get revenge for you, after you left that day, I hammered two bone spikes into Constance's ankle." ---- Yana giggled. "So that means she's going to be nothing but a cripple from now on?" Their laughter was cut short by the deafening crash of the door being kicked open. Maverick stood rigid, his fists clenched so tightly his veins bulged. His bloodshot eyes burned with murderous rage as he glared at them. Andrew jumped in fright.

Maverick crouched down, gripping his throat. He hissed through gritted teeth, ''Tell me now! Who the hell saved me back then?" "'Mavie, listen to me. Andrew and Constance were having an affair! I just found out, and he threatened me. You have to kill him-" ---- He fired again.
This time, a bullet grazed Yana's cheek and embedded itself in the wall behind her. Maverick turned his head, ignoring her deathly pale face. There wasn't a trace of warmth or pity left in his eyes-only murderous intent. "Say one more word about my wife, and I'll kill you." Andrew knew he was doomed. He had ended up in this mess because of Yana, and now, this woman was shamelessly trying to pin the blame on him alone.
As he gritted his teeth, he dragged his broken legs and clutched at Maverick's pants, weeping uncontrollably. "Maverick , I was wrong! It was Yana -that bitch - she seduced me and talked me into lying. "Eight years ago, it was Constance who saved you. She broke two ribs pulling you out, and she hada crescent-shaped birthmark on her right shoulder. She was in the hospital for two months. Yana found out and had someone fake the same birthmark on her. She's a complete fraud!
"Maverick, I was fooled by her-I swear! That day in the alley, she was the one who called Constance a whore and her kid a bastard! I was wrong, I really was! Please, Maverick... don't kill me!" The word "bastard" struck Maverick like a bolt of ---- lightning. He knew Constance had carried Yana's embryo-she would never call her own child that. In that instant , a horrifying realization dawned on him, and his entire mind reeled as if struck by a blunt force.
His hands trembled violently and uncontrollably. "Wait, the baby Constance is carrying isn't Yana's?" Andrew kept shaking his head, like he was clinging to the last sliver of hope. "Maverick, the baby Constance is carrying is yours! Yana changed her mind at the last minute. She said once your wife was about to give birth, she'd make sure the baby died in the womb. Then she'd tell you Constance found out the truth about the surrogacy and did it on purpose. "She'd put on the waterworks , act all heartbroken - just to push you into killing Constance."
