---- Chapter 8 "I'm not...'' Shawn's eyes were red. "I have made mistakes before. I hurt her. But I still love her, just like she loves me. We can still make it work." Seeing how stubborn he was, Brenda looked at him with utter disdain. "Take a good look in the mirror. What exactly is there to love about you? If you weren't my son, I would've punched you in the face by now." She snatched Roy from his arms and went upstairs .

Shawn felt his strength drain from his body as he watched her retreating figure. He collapsed onto the couch, his eyes dull and lifeless as he mumbled, " Yvonne, where are you? I miss you." After I had left, he had done everything he could to find me. He had gone to the police , posted missing person ads, and more, yet nothing had worked. It was as if I had vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind. He couldn't find me, and I had never once sought out news of him.

Two years passed ina blur. The small town had developed rapidly over the past ---- two years. An influx of tourists brought constant business to my cafe. Every day, the cafe bustled with countless customers. Though busy, I found joy in my work and lived each day in fulfillment. One day, one of my delivery staff injured his foot and couldn't do his regular duties, so I let him stay behind to manage the cafe while I delivered the coffee orders. One of the orders was for a nearby hotel.

When I arrived and saw who had placed the order, I froze. Shawn was visibly stunned, too. His hand, which was holding up his phone, froze in midair. He stared at me. "Yvonne?" My heart fluttered slightly but quickly stilled. "Hello. Here's your coffee." Ihanded him his coffee. Shawn came back to his senses , ended his call, and tried to reach out to me, but I stepped back just in time to avoid him. I gave him a calm and indifferent look. Yet, he looked at me with a mixture of joy and surprise.

"Yvonne, I've finally found you!" "My name isn't Yvonne. Please sign here for your coffee." I extended the cup to him again. This time, he took the coffee, still staring at me unblinkingly like he was afraid that I would disappear. ---- My job was done, so I turned to leave. But he reached out and grabbed my arm, hesitant yet desperate. "Yvonne, we've finally met again. Please... just give me some time. Let's talk, okay? His voice was laced with desperation.

I frowned and freed myself from his grasp. Meeting his gaze, I said firmly, "You've got the wrong person. I'm not who you think I am." Then, I stepped back and turned away. Just then, he said, "Roy can say 'Mommy' now. That was his first word. I know you don't want to see me, but what about him?" For a split second, my steps faltered. But that was it. I didn't look back. After that, Shawn placed two more delivery orders at my cafe.

I didn't want to see him, so I paid extra for someone else to make the deliveries. Perhaps taking the hint, he stopped ordering. Just as I thought that he had finally given up, he showed up at my cafe, bringing Roy with him. ---- When I saw the child in his arms, I froze. It was as if an invisible force had shackled me to the spot. I couldn't move. Roy was well-behaved. His round eyes darted around in curiosity as he took in the unfamiliar surroundings.

When his gaze landed on me, a chill ran up my back. Instinctively, I wanted to run away.
