---- Chapter 13 Eugenia was nothing more than the Ottley family's illegitimate daughter. Back then, Jacob had planned to marry her to an old man for his own benefit. For the first time, she stood up to Jacob and ran away. During her escape, she crossed paths with Augusta . Augusta , looking terrified , stepped into a car driven by Valentin right in front of her. Once inside, Valentin hardly acknowledged her, responding with nothing but cold indifference. Augusta tried everything to please him.
In the end, he lost his temper and slapped her. But all she did was turn her face away and cry. Eugenia had never seen this side of Augusta before. To her, the latter had always been strong and confident, never this submissive. She was the woman who single-handedly kept Greenstein Group running, a true role model for women. Eugenia's curiosity got the best of her, so she quietly followed them in her car, determined to find out what was going on between Augusta and Valentin .
What she saw next was terrifying. When Augusta stepped out of the car, Valentin grabbed her by the throat , cursing as he shouted , " You filthy slut! Are you really that desperate for a ---- man? How long have you been cheating on me?" Eugenia didn't dare get any closer, afraid that she'd get caught, but Valentin's shouting was so loud that she could hear every word. Augusta did nothing but beg for mercy throughout the ordeal. She never once stood up for herself. Awave of disgust hit Eugenia.

She never imagined that Augusta, who always seemed so flawless and untouchable on the outside, could actually be this filthy behind closed doors. Once Eugenia had dirt on Augusta, she was ready to walk away. But she never got the chance. Several cars pulled up, and the people inside spotted her. Valentin hesitated briefly when he saw her, then tossed her a camera and told her to step aside and take pictures. That entire day and night, she threw up three times. It was all just too disgusting.
By the end of it, Augusta met a grim fate, and Eugenia was stuck being an accomplice. That was the only reason Valentin let her live. Now that he had shown up again, she figured that it must be about money. Desperate to stay alive, Eugenia said, "I still have one more property. If you think three million dollars isn't enough, I'll throw in that house too..." Only then did Valentin nod, looking satisfied. "Good. I'll have one of my guys follow you.
Sell the house and ---- get me ten million in cash. I don't think you'd want to risk going to the police -not with your involvement in Augusta's death. We wouldn't have all these photos if you hadn't taken those pictures." Terrified, Eugenia didn't dare say a single word. At that exact moment, a receiver at the Greenstein residence caught every word of Eugenia and Valentin's conversation. Everything came across crystal clear. Nigel sneered.
"Less than an hour in, and Eugenia's already given herself away." On the way over, Nigel had gotten word from Vance to grab the pebble-shaped recorder from the drawer. At first, Nigel had no idea what Vance was up to until he saw him get Eugenia out of the room and slip the recorder into her bag. It looked just like a beautiful pebble. Naturally, no one would have suspected a thing. Eugenia's biggest mistake was acting too fast and not thinking through her words.
If the blackmailer was after money, why not go straight to Vance? He might not have been the wealthiest guy, but coming up with 30 million dollars to get those photos back wouldn't have been a problem. The fact that the blackmailer didn't take that step was a red flag. Still, Vance didn't suspect Eugenia. He was simply ---- testing the waters. But with that one move, the truth from all those years ago came flooding back. Vance's face turned stormy as he had Nigel look into Valentin's background.
