---- Chapter 14. Eugenia was eventually set free. She didn't dare tell Vance or call the police. She began doing whatever she could to gather money. In the end, the police caught her the very day she sold her house. An hour before they arrested her, Valentin jumped to his death. The police had his place surrounded, but he refused to give up. He ran up to the rooftop and tried to escape but ended up falling to his death.

The truth came out, and the real culprit was taken in, but Rosalea was gone for good. Vance went to the beach to pay his respects to her. Jessamine was there, too, to bring the good news to Rosalea. The culprit had been caught, and Rosalea's name was finally cleared. Now, she could finally rest in peace. But as Jessamine spoke, tears streamed down her face. "Does it even matter now that they've caught them and that Rose isn't blamed for Augusta's death? The truth came too late.

It won't bring her back. Rose is gone..." Holding a fresh bouquet of roses, Vance gently placed each rose into the ocean. ---- He glanced over his shoulder and murmured, "I failed her. I'll spend the rest of my life to make up for it." He was too overcome with tears to say anything else. Jessamine couldn't bear to watch any longer. She turned and walked away. Vance was there from dawn to dusk. By then, the waves had already carried the roses away. "Goodnight, Rose," he whispered.

The regret and pain stayed with Vance for the rest of his days. 20 years later, he followed Rosalea in death. He lived a life of glory, but in the end, there was no gravestone to mark his death. His ashes were scattered into the sea to reunite with the woman he loved-Rosalea. Epilogue 1 - The Other Side of Augusta's Life Augusta was still young when she lost her parents .

Although their guidance had helped her mature quicker than most and gave her a sharp sense of knowledge and wisdom, she still couldn't carry the full burden of the Greenstein family alone. She had known her childhood sweetheart , Valentin , for years. He came from a mixed background and had been left by his mother at an orphanage. ---- No one knew how, but Augusta suddenly found herself holding up the whole Greenstein family. A few years later, she ran into Valentin again.

By then, he'd worked his way up from being a car mechanic to owning his own repair shop. Things between them heated up fast, but they kept it under wraps. Valentin felt like the luckiest guy until his biological father , Pierre Dremin , showed up. Valentin already knew that Pierre was a rich mogul from overseas, but he didn't want anything to do with him. After all, he was doing fine on his own and was not interested in living as some pampered heir. Nevertheless, he told Augusta about Pierre.

The second she heard who Pierre was, her face went white. She quickly made up an excuse and bolted. One day, Pierre stopped by and saw pictures of Valentin and Augusta. Without hesitation, he burned the photos and hit Valentin with a bombshell. Augusta had always been seen as nothing more than a "toy" in their upper-crust social circles. Even though everything was about mutual benefit, Pierre could never accept someone like Augusta as Valentin's wife.

Valentin didn't want to believe it, but Pierre described exactly where Augusta's birthmark was. That same day, Valentin headed to the Greenstein residence.
