---- Chapter 21 "T'll never agree to that marriage ! You're marrying Peter over my dead body!" Jacob yelled through gritted teeth. "You're only allowed to be my woman in this life, Penelope, so don't even think about marrying him!" Peter, who had arrived ina hurry, stared down at him and spoke in a dark voice, "I don't need your consent to marry someone. Hurry up and leave. Don't get in the way of me celebrating Penny's birthday with her." He then held Penelope's hand and smiled gently at her.

He said, "Let's go." As Penelope followed him inside the venue, she heard Jacob bellow furiously behind them. He sounded terrifying. She could not help the worried expression that appeared on her face when she recalled that Jacob had a history of mental illness, but Peter pinched her cheeks and said, "Don't worry, Jake will be fine. I'll find him something to do so that he stops harassing you.

"T believe that after some time has passed , he'll be able to accept our engagement and stop kicking up a fuss about it." ---- "Thope so," said Penelope. She had once seen how much effort Jacob expended to clinch a ten-billion-dollar sales deal, so she was afraid that he would not let her off so easily. She did not see him for the next few days, but she would receive over a thousand text messages from him every day.

Each one of them read, "I miss you so much, Penny!" She ignored the messages and blocked his number . However, he changed numbers and continued to text her. The content of the messages was still the same- "T really miss you". It made her hair stand on end. On the day of her and Peter's engagement , Penelope was dragged out of bed by the hired stylists before the sun had even risen. They did her makeup, dressed her up, and styled her hair.

She sat in the Maybach that was to fetch her to the venue, drowsy. Suddenly, the car shook violently and let out a harsh braking sound. Penelope opened her sleep -heavy eyes and saw that the car she was in had been forced to a stop by several black off-road vehicles. In the next instant, someone knocked violently on the ---- car window, and Jacob's dark expression came into view. Terrified, she opened the car door, hiked up her skirt, and sprinted away.

However, Jacob grabbed her by the waist with a strong arm and lifted her over his shoulder. "You promised to stay with me forever, so don't even think about going back on your promise!" he told her. " As long as I'm still breathing, I'll never allow you to be with him!" Penelope struggled hard, but he covered her mouth and nose with a wet cloth. A pungent smell flooded her nostrils. She felt herself grow dizzy. Her head fell limply on his shoulder and she lost consciousness.

Jacob carried the unconscious Penelope into a helicopter and placed her in one of the seats. Then, he fastened her seatbelt. He leaned over and kissed her soft lips, then said in a choked voice, "You've finally returned to my side, Penny. I'm really happy." If Penelope wanted to be a mother, he would satisfy her desire. If she wanted to become a comic artist , he would get her all the support she needed to shine in the artistic ---- field.

As long as he worked hard to make amends, he would definitely be able to get rid of the resentment in her heart, and she would accept him again! The next time Penelope awoke, she found herself ina strange bedroom. She leaped off the bed and opened the window. A boundless ocean and a golden beach illuminated by the sun's rays came into view. Where was this place? Had she been locked up by Jacob? Fear rose in her heart. She opened the door and ran downstairs.

Jacob walked out of the kitchen with dishes in his hands. He was smiling blissfully. "Oh, you're awake?" he asked. "Sit down and have some food." Penelope lowered her head and said in a bitter tone, " Today is my engagement day, Jacob. It's not right for you to lock me up. Let's each go our separate ways, alright? "T don't love you anymore. Even if you forcefully keep me by your side, it's not going to change a thing."
