She glanced out the window at the darkening sky and held his hand gently. "Edmund, I don't know why Selena is always after me. But she's your wife, after all. Maybe I should move out.

Perhaps I shouldn't have come back to disrupt your life..." As she spoke, her eyes reddened like she'd suffered all the injustices in the world. Claire knew exactly how to manipulate Edmund. In the past, every time she said she wanted to leave, he would panic and do everything he could to make her stay. This time, she was sure it would be no different. Sure enough , Edmund's expression changed upon hearing her words. A secret sense of triumph surged in Claire's heart.

"Get some rest. I'm going home," he said. With that, he turned and left without another word. When he reached the door of Selena's hospital room, he deliberately softened his footsteps, afraid he would disturb her sleep. But in the next moment, he froze-the room was empty. Had she been discharged?

Hadn't he told her he would be back for her? In their five years of marriage, this had never happened before. A faint unease stirred in his chest. Just then, a message from his secretary, Christian Smith, popped up on his phone. "Mr. Gilead, all of the photos have been removed from the internet.

We have contained online discussions about Mrs. Gilead , and we will continue monitoring the situation." Edmund exhaled in relief. Perhaps Selena was just angry about the photos. That must be why she turned off her phone and left the hospital on her own. But hadn't he already told her he would handle it? Why couldn't she trust him for once? Frustration surged in his heart. As he thought about everything that had happened recently, he forced himself to calm down.

This time, he had gone too far and genuinely upset Selena. He figured he should put in some effort to make it up to her. After leaving the hospital, Edmund made a stop at the jewelry store to pick up the custom-made ring he had ordered in advance. It was more exquisite and far ---- more expensive than the last one.
