---- Chapter 10 "Selena, I'm back-" Halfway through his sentence, Edmund's voice abruptly cut off. The bedroom before him felt strangely empty. The wardrobe, dressing table, and drawers were all bare. It was as if no one had ever lived there. Just as he was about to turn and leave, his gaze was suddenly drawn to a red file on the table. With a frown, he walked over. The moment he saw the words "Divorce Certificate", his heart clenched violently.

He couldn't believe that Selena would resort to such scare tactics. To think that she faked this to get at him! He had never signed any divorce papers, nor had he been to the courthouse . How could there possibly be a divorce certificate? Edmund kept reassuring himself that it wasn't true. However, panic took over. His body moved instinctively and propelled him to leave the bedroom. He searched the entire villa, but there was no sign of Selena. The unease in his chest grew stronger.

Only then did he remember the promise he made. ---- Selena must have gone to Mount Versuval in her wedding dress to wait for him. The sky had completely darkened by then. Edmund refused the officer's offer to accompany him and stumbled down the mountain alone. He had no idea how many times he fell. His expensive tailored suit was covered in dirt. His forehead became bruised and bloodied. People passing by cast him strange looks. However , he paid no mind to himself or them at all.
