---- Chapter 14, The tenth proposal Selena had waited five years for had finally come true. She reached out her hand and said firmly, "I do." At that moment, she even felt a sense of relief that Edmund had never proposed to her. Otherwise , she might never have lived to see this day. That night, after the doctor confirmed that she was out of the woods and completely fine, Herman finally felt at ease. He completed her discharge procedures and took her home.

After five years, she stepped into the Sorenson residence once again. Everything inside remained the same as before as if time had stood still. Even the Lego set she had been building halfway through was still sitting on the table. Memories she had long sealed away suddenly flooded back all at once. Herman rolled up his sleeves and walked toward the kitchen. "You rest up. I'll cook. The house is cleaned every week, so your books and Legos are still here.

Tomorrow, I'll take you out to buy some new ones." But instead of looking for anything else, Selena followed him like a shadow. She clung to the kitchen ---- door frame and watched him intently. She was terrified . In fact, she was afraid that if she looked away, he would disappear again. Herman saw right through her thoughts . He walked over and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Don't worry. I won't leave you again," he comforted reassuringly.

Before long, the table was filled with all of Selena's favorite dishes. Back when they were together , Herman had always been the one to cook for her. He had never let her set foot in the kitchen. Later on, Selena learned to cook just to please Edmund. After dinner , Herman sat on the carpet with Selena just like five years ago. They built Legos together. As they leaned close, the warmth between them made it feel as if those five years apart had never happened.

Right before bed, a thought suddenly struck Selena. " Herman, you planned the engagement banquet before even proposing . Weren't you afraid I'd reject you?" Herman, who was already half-asleep, pulled her into his arms and buried his face in the crook of her neck. His voice was drowsy and muffled as he replied , "If you rejected me, it would only mean I hadn't done well enough. Then, I'd keep trying and changing until ---- you agreed to marry me." With that, he fell into deep sleep.

Herman had flown for over ten hours just to rush back. Then, he had nearly lost his mind watching Selena being unconscious for hours. Now, he had reached his limit. Selena traced his features with her fingertips. For the first time in a long while , warmth seeped back into her heart. Perhaps it was because the person she loved was finally beside her, Selena slept soundly that night. Over the next two days, Herman took her everywhere he went. Slowly , the tension in her nerves began to ease.

On the third day, the Sorenson family hosted a grand reception banquet. Herman walked into the venue hand in hand with Selena. With solemn certainty, he announced to everyone present, ''This is my fiancée, Selena Crawford. In half a month, we will hold our engagement banquet at Southern Estate. You are all welcome to attend."
