---- Chapter 3 Julian almost laughed from pure anger. The whole family treated him like he was an idiot. Not only had they gone behind his back to pull off this surrogacy scheme, but they also wanted him to raise the bastard child like it was his own! Bianca was already pregnant, so Douglas did not " punish" her anymore. She did not go upstairs to Nathan that night either. Instead, she returned to Julian's bedroom. She had barely stepped inside when Carol's anxious voice rang down the hallway.

"Bianca! Nathan's not feeling well. You have to check on him. Quickly!" Hearing this, Bianca hesitated. But in the end, she turned toward the stairs and said, "I'll be back soon after checking on him. He can't be left alone with that frail body of his." Julian said nothing in response . His heart had long gone cold. He no longer cared enough to stop her. That night, muffled moans drifted from upstairs once again. She was already pregnant, yet they did not stop with their intimacy.

Julian had thought he could not possibly feel any worse, but silent tears still soaked his pillow. ---- It was nearly dawn when Bianca finally returned. She lay behind Julian and wrapped her arms around him. Her voice was laced with exhaustion as she said, "I'm so tired... Don't overthink it, Jules. Nathan's stomach hurt, so I gave him a massage . Nothing happened ." She said that, but she still reeked of Nathan's cologne.

Julian pushed her away in disgust and said coldly, " You should move into his room. He lost his wife and needs a woman. I don't." Bianca blinked dazedly before fury flared across her face. "What is that supposed to mean? My sister died saving me. What's wrong with me taking care of her husband in place of her now that he's not well?" Her eyes locked onto Julian's, filled with disappointment . "You think something is going on between me and him? Fine, I won't get involved with him anymore.

I'll keep my distance. Happy?" And with that, she slammed the door behind her. For the next few days, she really did keep her distance. Even when Nathan fell ill and needed to go to the hospital, she refused to go near him. "Mom, Dad, you two should take him there," she said. "T can't do it. I don't want Julian getting the wrong idea again." ---- That one line was enough to shift all the blame onto Julian. Carol shot him a death glare and exclaimed, ' I've never met anyone so petty.

We're family, so what's wrong with Bianca taking care of her brother- in-law?" qi With a scowl on her face, Carol pushed Julian to get the car. "Since you're so petty, handle everything from now on. Cook for him, take care of him, and tend to all of his needs! You'll be the one driving him to the hospital too!" Julian said nothing and simply went to the garage after getting the keys. But as he pulled the car out, Nathan stumbled sideways without warning and collapsed under the front wheel.

Before Julian even processed what happened, he heard a pained wail. "Agh! My leg-It hurts!" Of course, everyone came running at once. Bianca was the first to reach Nathan, practically flying to his side. "Are you okay?" she cried. "Tt hurts." Nathan groaned, clutching her hand tightly. "Is my leg broken, Bianca?" She looked beyond devastated. "Nate, I won't let anything happen to you. Don't be scared." In that moment of tenderness, she called him by his nickname intimately with a gentle voice.

Julian's eyes turned red. Before he could even begin to ---- grieve, Carol shrieked from behind him, her trembling finger pointed at the car. "Julian was the one driving! He was the one who ran Nathan over!"
