Steeling himself, John said, "There's a lawyer waiting downstairs. H-he claims to be Mrs. Hunter's lawyer." After a pause, he continued , "He came to discuss the divorce settlement between you and Mrs. Hunter. He says that the hearing is the day after tomorrow."
