---- Chapter 13 Seth froze in place. He stood there without moving a muscle. When he finally came to his senses, panic and unease flooded him in waves. "What do you mean 'divorce'?" Seth asked. He did not realize how rough his voice sounded. John dared not utter a word upon seeing Seth's terrifyingly red eyes. Seth seemed to recall something at that moment.
He asked, "Where's the parcel from the other day?" John replied in a shaky voice, "I had it delivered to your house." Initially, they would be having a quarterly meeting of the shareholders today. However, Seth decided to call it off. John could see that Seth's face was as white as a sheet. Seth stumbled out of the office and hurried off. This was the first time John had seen him appear so distraught. Seth ran the lights for about seven or eight times before reaching the Hunter residence.
Technically speaking, the place was no longer the Hunter residence. ---- Seth felt an awful ache in his chest as he took in the unfamiliar decorations hung over the front door. He clenched his jaw and forcefully opened the mailbox, which was found next to the front door. There was indeed an envelope inside. Seth kept praying in his heart before he opened the envelope. When he finally saw the divorce certificate , Seth felt as though he had been hurled into the cold, deep sea.

It felt like the blood had stopped flowing in his veins. Seth never wanted a divorce. He never intended to divorce Emma. A particular memory came into his mind just then. It was a memory from the day Emma had barged into the study and found him and June together . She had the usual sad and bitter look in her eyes. When she handed him a document which seemed to be an agreement, Seth thought Emma was just trying to get some money from him.
He signed the document without even looking at it properly. After Seth had signed the document, the look in Emma's eyes turned into one of relief instead. Moreover , the date stated on the divorce certificate matched the date he had signed those papers. Seth could no longer deny the fact that the document he had signed absent -mindedly back then was their ---- divorce papers. He was the one who had put an end to their marriage. The realization filled Seth with great dismay and regret.
He felt lost. It was as if he was sinking into the depths of despair. Feeling overwhelmed by his own emotions, Seth raised his hand and pounded the mailbox violently several times. The people inside the house were soon alerted by the noise. The first person who came out was the owner of the house. The man looked warily at Seth, who seemed a little unhinged. "Mister, please leave. This is my property. Otherwise, I'll report you to the authorities." Seth looked in the direction of the voice.
His gaze fell on the two people standing somewhere behind that man. They seemed to be the man's wife and child. The sight of that family of three was like a knife to Seth's heart. He lost his composure and grabbed the man by his collar. "That's nonsense! This is my house! You're the one who should get lost!" The man was quite taken aback at first. Then, he said in exasperation, "What do you mean this is your house? Did you not know that it had been sold to someone else?
---- "Someone had put up the relevant information ona website a month ago. We signed the contract two weeks ago. We've completed all of the necessary legal procedures. If you still won't leave, I'll call the cops!" Seth lost it the moment he heard that the house was put up for sale a month ago. He threw a heavy punch at the man. "You're lying! I just married Emma at the time. There's no way she'd sell the house!" The man winced in pain.
He punched Seth back several times and yelled at him, "What the hell! You're a complete whacko even though you look prim and proper on the surface! "The lady who sold us the house said that her husband brought his mistress here. She decided to sell the place since she found it filthy. So, you're that horrible man she's spoken of. Bah! Serves you right!" Seth lost his strength and the impulse to fight upon hearing that biting remark. He slumped onto the floor. For the first time ever, he appeared like a helpless child.
