---- Chapter 19 Before Emma could even react , someone pulled her into their arms forcefully. That person was covered heavily in filth and grime. The odor coming off his body was so awful that it made Emma feel dizzy. Eventually , Emma noticed that the person holding her seemed to be a drunk, homeless man. The man started groping Emma as soon as he threw his arms around her. All the while, he was muttering something vulgar.

Emma could roughly understand it even though he was speaking in Felthanese. It was her first time encountering a situation like that. Her body stiffened with fear. She had come outside for a walk alone since she was feeling a bit down, which was partly an influence from her pregnancy. Emma never imagined that something like this would happen. When she came to her senses, Emma immediately struggled against the person's hold with all her might. She dared not scream for help.

Instead , she tried to reach for her phone to call the police. The man was a little flustered when he saw how Emma was putting up a resistance . He pulled out a ---- knife and said threateningly , "Take off your clothes! Otherwise, I'll stab you with this knife!" Emma instinctively tried to shield her lower abdomen with her hands. The man was extremely tense and agitated since he was intoxicated. He reacted to even the smallest movement Emma made.

Emma had merely lifted her hands slightly, yet the man slashed wildly at her with the knife. Emma dodged just in time. Still, she sustained a cut on her arm. Blood started oozing out of her wound in moments. While Emma had resolved to fight back if the man continued to attack her, she picked up on the sound of hurried footsteps just then. She watched as a familiar form lunged at the homeless man. Both men fell heavily onto the floor.

As he tried to snatch the knife away from the man's hands, Seth called out, "Emma, run!" Emma did not waste any time as she straightened herself and shielded her abdomen. Then, she quickly ran toward an area that was more crowded. When she had moved some distance away and was about to call the police, Emma witnessed the homeless man stabbing the knife into Seth's calf. ---- Emma felt as though her legs might give out at any moment. It was not because she was concerned about Seth's injury.

She was simply shocked by what she had just seen. The ambulance and police cars arrived at the scene shortly afterward. Since Seth had gotten wounded because of her, Emma followed him to the hospital , albeit reluctantly. While she was waiting outside the ICU, Emma spotted Vincent hurrying toward her. A wave of relief washed over her. "Vince..." Before she could say more, Vincent pulled her into a tight embrace. Emma was momentarily stunned.

Then, she sensed how Vincent's body was trembling slightly . He was holding her so tightly. It was as if he was afraid that she might disappear at any moment. Vincent's eyes reflected the guilt that was eating away at him. He clenched his jaw. Vincent really wanted to punch himself in the face. "Tt's all my fault. You have no idea how scared I was. I was so afraid that I might never get to see you again." Although she had no desire to be in a relationship for the time being, seeing how worried Vincent was about her filled Emma's heart with a warm feeling nevertheless.
