---- Chapter 22 Emma had no interest in finding out what happened between Seth and June afterward. She received news that her grandfather's condition had worsened, and they probably only had a few days left with him. Emma lost her parents in a car accident when she was still a child. Her uncles were ruthless, calculating men. They would do just about anything to obtain the Burton family's wealth and legacy.

If it were not for her grandfather's protection, Emma probably would not have been able to make it to adulthood. She left for Bruherst and rushed to return home as quickly as possible. Emma brought Vincent along since he kept begging her to. She had begun experiencing some early signs of pregnancy since she was already two months pregnant. Vincent was thoughtful enough to prepare the sour treats that she liked. He also kept a close watch on her condition during their trip back.

Still, it pained Vincent to watch Emma gradually grow thinner because of the pregnancy and how she was deeply saddened by the news regarding her ---- grandfather. He clasped Emma's hands tightly and repeatedly comforted her. "Tt's alright. I'm here with you. It'll be alright." Emma did not pull away from Vincent's embrace this time. She leaned against his chest and managed to get a good night's sleep.

After returning to the Burton residence and seeing her grandfather one last time, Emma steeled herself to take care of her grandfather's funeral following that. Two weeks went by in the blink of an eye. It was time to announce how the assets would be divided among members of the Burton family. Emma had informed everyone in the Burton family of her pregnancy about a month ago. Her eldest uncle, William Burton, was visibly displeased .

Still, he smiled dryly and walked over to Emma while holding a document detailing the ownership of 15 percent of their company's shares. "These shares belong to Emma." However, a shrill female voice called out right before the contract was placed in Emma's hand. "Hold on!" ---- Everyone directed their gaze toward the two people who had rushed in through the front door. Emma's eyes narrowed. However, she quickly calmed down. Those two people were none other than June and Seth.

Seth had probably just gotten discharged from the hospital . His face was a bit pale, and he was walking with a limp. His eyes had been glued to Emma from the moment he entered the house. On the other hand, Emma did not even spare those two a proper glance. She was enjoying the grapes that Vincent had peeled himself. He was feeding them to her. As she grew tired of the grapes' sweetness, Emma pushed Vincent's hand away and pointed to the oranges at the side. Vincent was not irked at all.

He smiled softly. It was a curiously pleasant sight as Vincent peeled the fruit's skin elegantly with those big, slender hands. Seth was extremely envious of the way Emma was looking at Vincent. Sadly, he could only clench his fists while feeling bitter. William looked at Seth and the woman beside him. Then, he took a glance at Emma, who seemed completely unruffled as she flirted with another man ---- on the couch. He had a cunning, pensive look in his eyes. William bellowed, "Who are you?

How dare you come into our house and cause a ruckus! Where are the guards? Get her out of here this instant!" June panicked when the guards seized her and tried to escort her away. She struggled and yelled frantically . "No! I'm not here to cause any trouble. I'm here to expose Emma Burton. That woman's definitely not pregnant!" Those words sent a shock through the crowd. Emma finally turned her eyes to June. However, there was a cold, murderous look in her narrowed eyes.

William did his best to suppress his laughter. He went on prompting June. "Miss, you need to watch what you say. What evidence do you have to prove that Emma is not pregnant?" "T have evidence, of course!" June jutted her chin out. Her eyes blazed with malice. "Seth has never spent a night with Emma since they got married. So, how could she possibly be pregnant?"
