---- Chapter 25 William knitted his brows and grumbled , ''Who the heck is Mr. Gardner?" The other shareholders simply ignored him. They quickly gathered around Vincent when they heard how the eldest shareholder had addressed him. William had spent the last few years looking into ways to secure his part of the inheritance. He was completely oblivious to the latest news in the business circle. Moreover , he was not equipped with the skills to manage the company.

Naturally, he did not recognize Vincent. However, that did not mean others would not. While the Burton family was the wealthiest family in Javena, they could never compare to the Gardner family , which was based in Brempton . The Burtons could probably never top the Gardners, who had accumulated their wealth for several centuries. June had not realized the severity of her situation.

She continued yelling, ''Are you really going to accept the child born between Emma Burton and some random man she cheated with? Are the Burtons alright with losing face because of an incident like this?" William wore a fake smile. "We, the Burtons, need to ---- settle some family matters today. Emma Burton cheated with some random guy while she was still married.

We should discuss matters relating to appointing the new chairman of the Burton Group some other day." The shareholders seemed puzzled as they stared at June. "Who were you calling some random man?" With a confident look on her face, June pointed at Vincent, who stood beside Emma. One of the shareholders laughed scornfully. "You're calling the heir of the Gardner family from Brempton some random guy? Do you have a death wish?" Vincent let out a chuckle as well.

Even though he was laughing, he had an icy look in his eyes. "The Burtons should work on settling your family matters soon. You have way too many fools in the family. It's starting to make me doubt if there is a need for the Gardner family and the Burton family to continue collaborating." Upon hearing his words, both the shareholders and the Burtons had come to realize the severity of their situation.

After all, even if they could not become the Burton Group's new chairman themselves, these people would still have enough money to support their lifestyles by relying on the company shares each of ---- them owned. None of them wanted to see the Burton Group go bankrupt. William realized he had offended someone he should not have at that point. He dropped to his knees and broke out in a cold sweat. One of the Burtons stepped forward and conveyed the family's decision to sever ties with William.

They would also send June out of Javena so that Emma would not have to see her ever again. The Burtons hoped to appease Emma and Vincent by doing these things. Vincent directed his gaze at Emma. He managed to conceal the dark look in his eyes. "What do you think? Is that enough to appease you?" Emma smiled. "No, it's not enough." The others started discussing at once what they should do about those three people. It was shocking how the tides had turned in a blink of an eye.

Emma knew that these were the perks that came with power. Vincent noticed the ambitious look in her eyes. He resembled a loyal knight as he leaned forward. "Emma," Vincent said solemnly, "I can give you everything the Gardner family has to offer if that's what you want. I can help you get to the position you aspire to reach." ---- Emma's heart was racing at that point. She had to admit that what Vincent just said made her heart flutter a lot more than when he whispered sweet nothings to her.

Emma smiled and held Vincent's hand firmly. She did not have to say anything to convey her feelings. Seth felt like his body was slowly turning cold as he listened to others talk about Vincent and the Gardner family in Brempton. He had recognized who Vincent was too. Seth had not considered the possibility of a situation like this previously since the members of the Hunter family would never have the opportunity to meet Vincent.

His body swayed a little as he watched Vincent and Emma hold each other's hands tightly. All the while, the others were trying their best to gain the couple's favor. Despair filled Seth's eyes. He now understood that he would never be able to get Emma to come back to him in this lifetime. Seth was not confused or puzzled as to why someone like Vincent would choose to pursue Emma. Since he was a kid, Seth knew he was the one who was not good enough for her.
