---- 18. The Part With Cameron's Truth "Gail! I missed you. Never knew how much I needed funny, meanness, and sarcasm in my life." Simon was a taller and goofier version of Pete. "Well, that's what I'm here for." I grin at him and give him a big hug. I was trying to look cool and non-sweaty, of course I was failing so hard since I couldn't stop scanning the bar for Cameron.

"So, you two are still getting married, huh?" He says with a frown, Peter was just grinning, like how younger brothers usually do. "Tiff, are you sure?" "I missed you too, Simon." Tiff hugs him too, "I'll go ahead and order." I walked to the bar with Tiff, wanting to see a closer look of the bar, "She's not here." I tell her, freaking a little bit out. "It's Tuesday today and she's not here!" "Calm down, Gail." She turns to me and rubs my shoulders, "Look, we'll ask that guy where she might be.

For all we know she must be on her break, alright? " I give her a nod and we both approach the bar. Tiff orders a bagel and black coffee, while I order my usual. In a casual tone, as I look at the boy who took ---- my order, I ask, "Hey, may I ask where Cameron might be?" The boy, who I find out from his name tag, was named Kyle, thinks deeply. "Uhm, I think she took a one-week leave from work..." He trails off and I look at him expectantly for more information.

"Is she sick or something?" Tiffany asks as Kyle went silent. "T-uh, I can't really remember..." From the disappointed look on my face he must have felt bad, " I'm sorry I can't tell you more." Tiffany waved his apology off, saying that he didn't need to apologize at all, and that she was thankful for his help. When we walked back the table and my face got all worried and freaky , Tiff calmed me down, "Maybe she's sick or visiting home.

There are lots of reason to take a one week leave." "I don't know." I paused, remembering how she was acting the last time I saw her. "She was really acting weird last Sunday... like I wasn't going to see her again. A-and, I might be wrong, but I think she wanted to tell me something, but couldn't." The two of us reached our table, somehow the spirit went down as we sat down. Peter noticed the vacant expression on my face and tried to open me up, " ---- What's wrong?

Is Cammie here today?" From the mention of Cameron's name, Simon lights up, "Is she here?" I shake my head no. Peter understood it the moment I did. The group went silent a while until Simon speaks up as if remembering something , "Oh, right, what's the date today?" "Uhm, it's May 17th." Peter says, checking his watch.

Simon sips his coffee and nods, when he swallows he looks alive and casually says, "Well, I guess she's off work because she's getting married tomorrow." Like a pack of betrayed children we all spoke in chorus, all mouthing the same word: What?! "She's getting married?" I ask all so in disbelief.

"Tomorrow?!" Tiff asks, "and she didn't invite us to the wedding after we take her out that one time?" Peter shushes Tiff, "Honey, that's kind of not the point." Simon looks at all of us in confusion , 'W-wait, why are you guys all upset? Did I miss something?" His brother points a finger at me, "Gail is kinda in love with her." "What?" Simon asks, facing me, now he was in disbelief. ---- "Peter, Iam not in love with Cameron. Okay?" I heave out a breath.

God, I can't believe she's getting married. I turn to Simon to explain, "I kind of have a crush on her, and I had a chance to know her better in the past few days." "Well, sorry if it came out from me. The wedding , I mean." He says in sympathy, "Geez, Peter, if you told me this a week ago I don't think I'd give you Cammie's address." I heave out another breath, I just couldn't believe it." So the silver ring on her left hand wasn't a wedding ring..." I say with my voice down low from saddens .

"It was an engagement ring." Tiff finishes my sentence. "You owe me fifty bucks and a foot massage. " She says, pointing to Peter. Peter rolls his eyes, "Jesus christ, woman, this is not the time!"
