---- Chapter 10 "Someone's dead!" a person cried. "Someone's jumped off the building!" another shouted. Caesar's mind went blank, and his ears buzzed. He forgot why he was leaving, and his ears turned red as the blood rushed to them. He sat in the car, unmoving and dazed. He was only rescued from the car when the police arrived. They dispersed the crowd and cleaned up the scene before finally noticing him. He was still lost and in disbelief , though.

Had Nadia committed suicide just because he'd left? He'd already told her the wedding would continue once he returned, though. Why had she gone to such extremes? He'd never... never wanted her to die. "Those are all the questions we have, Mr. Gray. You can take a look at your statement and see whether everything is in order. Sign here if you don't have any objection... Mr. Gray?" Caesar only realized he was at the police station when he snapped to his senses.

A police officer waved a hand before his eyes and pushed the record of his ---- statement to him. He looked down at it and shook his head. The sun had set by the time he left the police station after going through the necessary procedures. His driver was outside , waiting for him to get in so they could go. Nobody spoke in the car. Caesar sat in the backseat , and the driver glanced at him cautiously in the rearview mirror. He wanted to say something but ultimately didn't dare to make a sound.

The silence was interrupted by a phone call. Caesar answered it numbly to hear Josephine's willful voice on the other end. "Why aren't you here yet, Caesar? Don't tell me you've actually fallen for that doormat." That doormat . The words seemed to burn his heart like a hot iron. It was only at that moment that he realized the people in his life rarely called Nadia by her name. They always referred to her as a doormat. She was only desperately in love with him, though.

Why did she have to suffer such humiliation? In hindsight, the thing she said most was that she just wanted a wedding. And now, she'd died on their wedding day. Could this be part of her plan? She knew she couldn't keep him by her side, so she'd chosen to end everything on this day. "Why aren't you saying anything?" Josephine asked. ---- Caesar suddenly asked, "Do you still love me, Josephine? Are you willing to give everything up to be with me?" Josephine faltered.

Instead of answering his question, she asked in return, "Do you love me, then? Will you give everything up to be with me?" She still refused to be the first to admit that she was still in love with him, just like how she'd constantly reminded him that he would be a loser if he were to ask for a reconciliation first. She didn't want to be a loser , but she could act like she'd never said that if Caesar begged her to take him back. Caesar caught her drift and fell silent.

It wasn't because of what she'd said. He just suddenly felt tired and sick of this. He was sick of them always competing with and trying to spite each other despite being in love. In fact, he couldn't sense any love from Josephine's actions. However , he knew Nadia wouldn't have hesitated to answer him if he'd asked her that question. She loved him so much that she was willing to give everything up to be with him. But now, she was dead. She'd jumped off the hotel's roof and landed on his car.

She had died before his very eyes. ---- There wouldn't be anyone else in this world who would love him unconditionally as she had. Caesar felt like something was lodged in his throat when he realized that. His eyes reddened, and his tone was resolute as he said, "I'm tired, Josephine. I don't want to bea loser, nor am I interested in playing your game anymore. Let's not see each other from now on." He hung up after that, leaving his phone to ring off the hook without even batting an eye.
