---- Chapter 23 Theodore's fist landed on the corner of Caesar's eye, making him stumble and fall backward as he instinctively released his hold on Nadia. Caesar collapsed onto the ground from the punch, yet Theodore was far from being done with him. He landed punch after punch on his face. This went on until Nadia stopped him by the arm with a trembling voice. "Stop punching him, Theodore!" Theodore finally got up and looked down condescendingly at Caesar, who was beyond disheveled.

His breathing was ragged when he said, " I'll spare your life today. Go tell the police if you have anything to say!" He then turned around and took Nadia's hand, leaving with her. He only managed to calm down and check if she was hurt after they got into the car. Nadia said, "I'm fine. You're so stupid. Why did you beat him up like that when you've already called the police? What if he refused to let go of you? It's not worth dragging yourself down over someone like that!

" As she spoke, Theodore's gaze landed on the red marks on her wrist. His eyes immediately grew red, ---- and his voice was laced with fear. How could you say that you're fine when your hands have become like this? I should've just kicked him harder earlier. "Tt was all my fault, Nadia. It's my fault for not protecting you well enough, and you had to get hurt because of me-"" The sounds of sirens grew louder as the police approached.

After tending to their wounds, Nadia changed into the clothes that Theodore had brought for her before getting out of the car with him. The police rushed into the cathedral and soon dragged Caesar, who was just lying there, out. At that moment, another group of policemen arrived. Both groups of police crossed paths and stared in disbelief when they saw that the person they'd been after was already caught. Frowning, Theodore and Nadia went over to check on the situation.

Caesar was being held up by two other police officers. He looked busted and battered. He looked up upon noticing Nadia's presence. "I'm sorry, Nadia. I know my actions hurt you, so I'm the one who called the other group of police. I'm sorry, Nadia." Perplexed, she stared at him. She pursed her lips and asked, "Why did you do this?" ---- Caesar shook his head and smiled self-deprecatingly . It was because he was a despicable person.

Knowing that his time was running out, he resorted to any means to kidnap Nadia in hopes of fulfilling his own dreams. Unfortunately , his stolen dream was never meant to be fulfilled. Caesar waved a hand and followed the police into the car. Perhaps out of determination or fear, he never looked back. Nadia felt conflicted watching him leave. As she turned, she was met with Theodore's direct gaze.

After a moment, he asked in an aggrieved tone, " Didn't you say that he was just someone unimportant, Nadia?" But somehow , Theodore couldn't shake the feeling that something had happened between them, and they were hiding it from him. Nadia's sadness was washed away by his words, and she couldn't help but laugh. "He's truly someone unimportant , but I can tell you about it some time if you're interested." They soon set off, heading the opposite direction of the two police cars as they left.

---- Harriet and Lilac were already waiting outside the Creswell residence by the time they returned . They both sighed in relief upon seeing Nadia back. "Thank goodness you're alright!" "I'm sorry for worrying you both, Mr. and Mrs. Camden," Nadia said as she hurriedly ushered them into the house. Her eyes reddened upon hearing their concern. She smiled as she reassured them that she was safe. Yet, both Harriet and Lilac felt heartbroken seeing her like that.

As they continued with their conversation, Lilac suddenly slammed a hand down onto the table. "After what happened this time, it's just too dangerous for you to live alone. Since you're getting married soon, you should just move into Theo's place instead. It's already prepared for you anyway!" Theodore nodded in agreement. "They're right."
