---- Chapter 16 Caesar pursed his lips tightly, unable to utter a single word all of a sudden. The words that Nadia had repeated over and over again echoed in his mind. "I only want to marry and have a wedding with you. I don't need everything else. " In the past, Caesar had taken those words as proof of her love for him, but the truth was revealed after hearing the system's words. Nadia had cared so much about the wedding, even though she didn't care who he loved.

She was willing to sacrifice her all for the wedding. She even dropped to her knees in front of all their guests, just to plead with him to place the ring on her finger. It all turned out that completing the wedding was just a mission assigned by the system, and the notion of loving him became utterly laughable in the face of the other truth.

If Nadia truly loved Caesar, why would she call out the name of her deceased boyfriend when she was slipping out of consciousness while burning with fever? If Theodore was her boyfriend, who would Caesar be then? ---- His beliefs came crashing down suddenly. He had considered many possibilities, even accepting the fact that she came from another world. But he had never thought that Nadia never loved him. After all, they've spent 10 years together .

How could she not love him when she had sacrificed so much for him? A lump grew in his throat as he felt himself tear up. Yet, despite the suppressed tears, Caesar stubbornly refused to believe the cruel truth. "T don't believe it," he said, looking up at the system. "T won't believe it, unless I see her for myself and hear her tell me that she doesn't love me." Caesar's hoarse voice rang out. The system was rendered speechless as it watched him behave ina borderline manic manner.

After a while, the system sighed before saying, "I can give you a chance to go to her world to win her over if you become an operative , but you won't receive any rewards even if you successfully complete your mission. "You can then choose whether to stay or leave, but if you fail, you would end up getting erased." It wasn't a worthy deal. After all, the difference between what Caesar would gain and the cost was enormous.

---- However , he replied without hesitation soon after, ' I'll take it." Caesar's answer came so quickly and determined to the point it stunned the system. It studied him for a bit but did not say anything eventually . The system became busy again, but not long after, it showed up in front of Caesar once again. "Set up confirmed. Do you accept the mission of winning over Nadia Creswell and making her fall in love with you, Operative No.10066?" the system asked.

"T accept," Caesar replied with a nod. Acrackling sound of electricity was heard before the system's voice echoed again. (Transportation starting.] As the words faded , Caesar felt a wave of dizziness wash over him. His vision went dark. Once he regained consciousness, he realized he had woken up to an unfamiliar place. Nadia's heart was filled with anxiety as she watched the man lying on the hospital bed in Premiere Hospital of Sunsettia City.

As the system transported her back to her world, it had placed her six months in the past. At that point of time, Theodore was not officially declared dead, but ---- was already as good as gone. Initially, Theodore would have gradually slipped toward death. But with the system's intervention, Nadia no longer had to receive the news of his death amidst hope. She gripped his hand tightly. The once warm and strong hand that could easily envelop hers was now thin and frail.

It was sharp to the touch, yet she seemed to not notice it. Nadia softly muttered, "Please wake up soon, Theo. I missed you so much. You promised to marry me. You can't take back your words now! Otherwise, I'll go after you even in the afterlife." After a brief silence, a weak male voice suddenly spoke up. "Alright, we'll get married when we're alive, and we'll still be married even in the afterlife . But before that happens , Nadia-promise me to live well."
