---- Chapter 18 Amused, Theodore reached out to pinch Nadia's nose. He teased, "I wonder who was the one who was just crying and telling me how much she missed and wanted to marry me? "But you're right, a proper proposal is definitely needed. Don't worry, Nadia, I'll give you everything you deserve." The proposal was quickly arranged. It was held a week after Theodore's discharge. Before the car accident, he had been planning to propose to her.

He'd been planning everything in secret for some time-even most of the venue decorations were almost fully set up. However , no one could have predicted what would happen the next day. The day before Theodore was planning to propose, he got into a car accident while trying to save someone. He then fell into a coma. Not only did he miss his chance to propose, but he even caused his parents and Nadia to worry for so long. Thankfully, he was now given a chance to make things right.

---- On 20th May, Theodore went down on one knee amidst a sea of violets and roses, presenting her a bouquet of bright red roses. "Will you marry me, Nadia?" He opened the ring box in his hand, revealing the diamond ring inside. Tears welled up in Nadia's eyes as her best friend put a veil over her head. She parted her lips, but was too choked up to speak. As such, she could only nod her head repeatedly. She extended her right hand, allowing Theodore to put on the ring for her.

He got up and kissed her deeply amidst the rising choruses urging, "Marry The stars twinkled in the sky, as if applauding for their happiness. At that moment, Nadia became the happiest person on earth. She slowly opened her eyes when they parted from the kiss. But out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed aman whom she thought she'd never see again in her life. Nadia instinctively glanced over, as if trying to confirm it or purely in disbelief.

But she immediately knew she wasn't mistaken the moment her gaze met his. His gaze was filled with sadness. She just couldn't understand how Caesar would show ---- up here. Theodore noticed her unease and followed her gaze, noticing a stranger - someone who, for some reason, immediately irritated him. "Do you know him?" he softly asked. Nadia had already turned away when she nodded. She wasn't trying to hide anything from Theodore.

"He's not anyone important-let's go home." Seeing that she wasn't planning to elaborate further, he stopped asking about it. He replied softly, "Alright, let's go home." They left as their friends cheered. As the crowd scattered, all that was left was the decorative flowers on the ground and several cleaners at work. As Nadia got into the car to leave, she glanced over to where Caesar was standing and saw that it was empty.

If it wasn't for her earlier conversation with Theodore , she might have thought Caesar was just a figment of her imagination. She did not dwell on the brief encounter , nor did she wonder about the sadness in his gaze. Caesar was Nadia's mission target back in the mission world, but here, he was nothing more than a stranger she had met a few times. ---- Theodore left after dropping Nadia off, and she made her way up on her own. As she neared the entrance , she noticed a shadow huddled by it.

Upon closer inspection, she realized that it was a person-Caesar. Nadia fell silent for a moment, confused by his persistent presence. She couldn't understand what he was trying to achieve from doing all this. Caesar raised his head upon hearing the noise. His eyes were rimmed red, and stubble covered his chin. His once handsome features now looked much thinner, giving him a tired, haggard look. Upon seeing Nadia's return, he spoke up with a rough, choked-up voice.

""Nadia-" The last time she'd seen Caesar like this was during their high school graduation, when Josephine had spoken to him harshly and left him to go abroad. He drowned his sorrows in alcohol, despite being allergic to it, and soon, he was frequenting the hospital. Back then, Nadia was the one who barged into his house after receiving the news and stayed by his side.

She stopped him from consuming anything that contained alcohol and endured his abuse, telling him that she would stay by his side no matter what. Caesar finally accepted her, but not once did he truly look at her. He couldn't see her pain or suffering.
