---- Chapter 12 It was already the afternoon by the time Caesar returned to Gray Corporation. He entered his office to see an unwelcome guest there. "Josephine? Who let you in here, and what do you want?" He frowned , looking displeased . At the same time, he realized it was probably time to clear out the worthless creatures in the CEO's office who allowed just about anyone to enter his office. Josephine was aggrieved by his icy attitude.
It had been three months since Nadia had jumped to her death. It had been three months since Caesar had told Josephine over the phone that he wanted to sever ties with her. He'd started avoiding her since-he'd refused to see her, rejected her calls, and stopped answering her texts. In fact, he'd blocked her everywhere because she hadn't stopped trying to reach him. Even after she'd switched numbers and called him, he'd hung up instantly upon hearing her voice.
"What the hell do you mean by this? Why are you suddenly cutting ties with me? Don't tell me you don't love me anymore ." Josephine pouted as tears filled her eyes. She looked at him with anguish and tried to make herself seem pitiful. ---- The old Caesar would have been filled with heartache at that sight, but the current Caesar didn't even bat an eye. He was utterly unmoved. All he did was press a button on the intercom, sounding grim and scary as he asked, "Who allowed her to come in here?

Get over here and take her away!" "Are you kicking me out?" Josephine widened her eyes in disbelief when she heard that. "Aren't you afraid that I'll actually get mad at you and refuse to forgive you?" Caesar shot her a look. "What does it look like I'm doing? Also, why should I be afraid of you getting mad? Why would I need your forgiveness? Is there anything between us?" "But don't you..." Didn't he love her? Didn't he want to get back together with her?
She swallowed the rest of her sentence when she saw the look in his eyes. She felt uneasy. Before seeing Caesar , she'd never imagined there would be a day when he would truly move on from her. That was why she hadn't been afraid to get together with Sebastian. She didn't actually like him, of course. He was just a backup plan. How could he compare with Caesar, the CEO of Gray Corporation? She just wanted to use Sebastian to tell Caesar that he wasn't her only choice.
That was the only way to make ---- him appreciate her more and be more obedient. Men were pathetic in that way. They felt like the most precious things in the world were those that they'd never gotten. The easier it was to get something, the more they took it for granted. It was too bad she'd been too arrogant in her youth to consider the bigger picture. She'd easily accepted Caesar after he'd confessed to her. That was why he'd had the nerve to fall out with her over a small matter.
So, she'd demanded a breakup and left the country, even starting to date Sebastian. Even after returning to the country upon learning that Caesar was about to get married, she'd still maintained her lofty attitude and waited for him to give in. She wanted him to be wrapped around her finger. Everything had been going as planned... until Nadia had died. Caesar had suddenly lost his mind-he'd told Josephine that he was tired and didn't want to play her game anymore.
Then, he'd avoided her like the plague and blocked her everywhere. She thought he was just playing hard to get, but it finally hit her that he was being serious when she saw the frostiness in his eyes. He meant what he'd said- he didn't like her anymore. ---- What made him think he could let go just like that? "Caesar -"' Josephine wanted to say something else, but Caesar's secretaries knocked on the door and hurried in just then. They smiled awkwardly and interrupted her.
One said, "I'm afraid we're going to have to ask you to leave, Ms. Birch." They circled her without waiting for her to react, grabbed her arms, and dragged her out of the room. She wanted to break free but was no match for them. Ultimately, she was forcefully escorted from the room. Caesar could still hear her voice echoing in the corridor as she was taken away. "You'll regret doing this to me, Caesar! You'll regret everything!" Unfortunately for her, Caesar had already calmly taken his seat. Her words didn't affect him at all.
