---- Chapter 15 With a more thorough investigation, Corey had discovered that the middle school Nadia had "studied "at had no records of her at all. The same went for her elementary school and preschool. As for the places she'd lived in before meeting Caesar, they were either occupied by others during that time or just abandoned buildings. Corey had dug deeper and had even asked the people who'd lived in that area and the property management team whether they remembered Nadia.

All of them had told him they didn't know her or had never seen her. It was almost as if she'd suddenly appeared a decade ago before revolving around Caesar. This meant that after a hard day's work, the information he'd found wasn't much different from things Caesar already knew. There were a few times that she'd been falsely accused that Caesar was unaware of, though. Corey thought Caesar would rage at him after hearing his explanation.

He thought the latter would just think he was making an excuse for slacking off. However, Caesar merely fell silent on the other end of the line. Then, he hung up. He stared dazedly at the incomplete information on ---- Nadia, knowing that his suspicions had been confirmed. After a long while, he laughed. The conclusion he had arrived at was far too ridiculous-so ridiculous that he'd reflexively thought his mind was playing tricks on him due to his insomnia.

But now, he was starting to think that what seemed impossible was probably closer to the truth than anything else. {Abnormal fluctuation detected... Analyzing...] [Analysis failed... Maintenance in progress... Connecting...] Caesar heard a robotic voice and the sound of crackling electricity. His vision blurred before he even had time to be surprised by this. When he opened his eyes again, he found himself in a world that was nothing but white. Then, a glowing orb appeared before him.

He reached out to touch it but found that his hand passed right through it. He pursed his lips, having no choice but to accept that he couldn't touch the orb. Oddly enough, his first thought upon seeing the glowing orb was that it had a consciousness. It didn't show any emotion -heck, it didn't even have a face- yet he could sense its anxiety. "What are you?" Caesar asked. The glowing orb bounced, seemingly just noticing his ---- presence. The system was upset.

It couldn't change the lives of people who already existed in the minor worlds. All it could do was forge a superficial life story for the operatives who suddenly appeared in the worlds. The information was detailed enough to answer the questions most investigators would have. This was its first time making such a mistake. It had encountered someone who wanted his investigator to dig up everything about the operative from the moment they were born until their death.

The jig was up, and Caesar had discovered Nadia's abnormalities. The system had had no choice but to drag him into this realm. "I'm System 9987.I detected your investigation on Operative No.10065, so I brought you here," it said. The system's words confirmed Caesar's guesses. He narrowed his eyes slightly and said confidently, "You don't want me to continue digging." The system couldn't refute him, so it fell silent.

"Shouldn't you show me what you can offer me if you want to strike a deal with me?" Caesar asked. The system couldn't help sighing to itself when it saw how Caesar was already starting to bargain with it because he knew he had the upper hand. As expected of a genius entrepreneur. It would've been great if he ---- hadn't appeared before the system. "What do you want?" After a long silence, the system sighed.

Then, it hurriedly added, "First things first - she's not from this world, so I can't bring her back here after she's completed her mission!" Sure enough, the system saw the heavy disappointment in Caesar's eyes. Soon, however, Caesar composed himself. "Operative No.10065 refers to Nadia Creswell, right? What was her mission , and who... who is Theodore Camden?" Caesar suddenly regretted asking that. He was a little scared of knowing what the answer to his third question was.

At the same time, he couldn't resist wanting to know. He figured he would be better off knowing the truth than being kept in the dark. "Yes, you're right. Her mission was to marry you, and Theodore is her dead boyfriend," the system answered. Caesar already knew too much. What did it matter if he were to know a bit more? All it hoped was that he would settle down when he went back to his world and not make a big deal out of this. Caesar froze.

Nadia's mission was to marry him, and Theodore was her... dead boyfriend?
