---- Chapter 21: Found Him Maxx's POV Four days. Alice was in bed, unconscious for four days now. The house got a heavier and more serious tone. Sev was dangerously quiet. I just finished checking transactions with other groups and checking Ralph's possible whereabouts, but unfortunately, the first one was the only successful thing I've managed to have. "You're smoking again?" , Herschel asked behind me, he was just closing the door when I turned to him.

I puffed the smoke of my cigarette into the air. "Things are getting stressful . I'm just letting some out", I replied. He dragged a chair close to mine and watched the monitors in front of us. Cameras had been activated again on the whole house and its vicinity. We couldn't let anyone do the same thing that happened to Alice. She was drugged.

We were not entirely sure what kind of drug was injected to her system, the very reason why she was still asleep like a dead woman, but on some occasions, she would wake up grunting in pain, panting or screaming as she cries. Sev would not let anyone on except me and Kurt, the only doctor we could trust. He was a specialist in many fields of medicine and also, ---- unknown to others who knew him, he was connected to some illegal and dark aspects of mafia.

Only that he chose to get out, of course , with great payment . He was the only person we knew who could figure out what was happening to Sev's most precious one. And he seemed to get a hang of it. Alice had shown signs of improvement on her state. "How is it going?" "Not good really. Sev had been silent for the most part when I try talking to him every single time. It seemed like he couldn't hear what I say" "He's not going to lose it, don't worry", he chuckled.

linhaled a mouthful from the stick on my hand. "I know" "So why are you so worried ? You almost seemed like Sev's girlfriend ", he joked then reached for his own stick of cigarette resting on the table. "We can't get hold of the bastard. It's getting on my nerves already. Too much work. He's getting me no sleep most of the time. And you know how I hate chasing people" "Still the type, huh" Without any humor, I smiled. I knew what he meant. How I hated working so hard to get some shitty bastard.

I like being techie and tracking people in an instant but it pissed me off when I couldn't do it for ---- the time limit I set to myself. It may sound childish but I like working fast and this Ralph was making me look like I'm a beginner here. "So, you're staying here for how long?" "Ohhh.. is that you missing me I hear?", Herschel laughed. I rolled my eyes at him, he had this military built body but he always act like a kid when he was with us. It made me think he has a split personality .

He was so different when he was dealing with enemies of doing business. "Sorry, sorry. Sev actually sent me a message last time. A day after his girlfriend back from that warehouse I was actually set to fly to Italy this time but he wanted his main force here. And who am I to refuse a good deal", he exhaled; he was grinning like akid who was excited for his first treasure hunt. "What do you think he'll do?", I asked.

I could read people since when I was in college, I took psychology and I found out I was good at it as well as I was good at shooting people in their chest which I don't do much now. It was kind of messy. But I would like to hear people's opinion about those areas and I found just recently , Herschel's thinking and analysis was quite good though he hated being burdened to think so much. "T am not really sure about the details but I am sure he's going to make him pay hundred times more.
