---- Letters Alex swallowed thickly. "You told him about me? Does he know he's got one more parent?" "Well, what was I supposed to do? Most of the other kids at preschool have more than one parent; of course he was going to ask," Ashly grumbled. She crossed her arms over her chest defensively and still wouldn't quite meet Alex's eyes. But her scent hadn't soured; it had just sort of gotten weaker, so she wasn't mad, just embarrassed, Alex guessed. So he took mercy on Ashly and let it rest.
It was enough to know that Ashly hadn't pretended like he didn't exist. He hoped Ashly had told Adom good things about him, and maybe at some point he would ask, but for now, it was enough. But Alex is really excited to meet his son and to hug and kiss him. Adom looks really precious, and he is an exact copy of Ashly; even Ashly denied this.
He reached out and curled his fingers around Ashly's wrist, stroking rhythmically along the line of a vein where it stood out blue beneath the thin skin of her inner arm. "You want me to stay? It's ok if you don't; you know I understand. I can give you space if you want, he asked softly. "Tt's almost lunchtime ," Ashly said. Finally, finally, ---- her eyes met Alex again, and she smiled. "I promised I would cook Adom; he will be grumpy if he doesn't get his lunch on time, just like you.

"Are you sure that'll be edible for me and my son?" Alex said, feeling the old joke roll off his tongue before he could stop it. "Hey!" Ashly swatted at him with the hand Alex wasn't holding, but her offense was mostly feigned, and she was laughing. "I am a good cook! I was always better than you at cooking; don't you remember Alpha? "Really ?" Alex asked, lifting his eyebrows in mock surprise. "My mate really learned to cook?
Now this I have to see." Ashly picked up a throw pillow and hit him with it." Shut up!" she whined. Her hair was ruffled from Alex's fingers , falling into her eyes, and her cheeks were flushed. She was beautiful. Alex caught the pillow on the next swing and used the momentum to tug Ashly into a hug. He nosed at Ashly's hair and her ear and breathed deeply. "I love you, and I miss you," he murmured. With a sigh, Ashly sank into the embrace. She didn't say the words back, but she didn't need to.
Her scent was saying it for her: happy -contented - safe -love - love-love. ---- Alex smiles. Maybe Ashly needs some time, but Alex is happy to give her as much as she wants. After Alex had showered, brushed his teeth with a spare toothbrush, and dressed in a pair of Ashly athletic shorts and an oversized sweater , he followed the smell of food back downstairs. Ashly was in the kitchen, in front of the stove, and Adom was standing on a chair at the counter beside her.
He was handing Ashly things as she asked for them, helping his mother cook, and the image was so sweet and domestic that Alex had to lean against the doorframe and just take it in for a moment. "But Mom, it's really not my fault." Adom is pouting; it looks like they are having some serious talk. "Then why do you break someone's nose, Adom? I didn't teach you all those moves for unnecessary fighting." Ashly kept scolding his son. Alex raises his eyebrows . So Ashly trains Adom, but why?
Adom smells like Alpha. "Mum, he insulted you." Adom pouted and crossed his arms. "Baby, that doesn't give you the right to break your classmate's nose." Ashly garrote her son, who garrote her back.
