---- 54. NATE I pulled Angel against my body and frowned at Lucas. "Take Mason with you." "T can handle it," he growled. "Pm sure you can, but this isn't up for debate. Take him with you." He pursed his lips and growled at me before he took off again. My hold on Angel tightened as I turned and led us to the castle entrance. She was trembling. Instead of taking her to our bedroom, I led her to my office. "T need to use the bathroom," Angel said softly as soon as we entered. I nodded towards it.

The door clicked closed softly behind her. I hesitated a few seconds before I made my way over to my desk. A sound from the bathroom made me freeze. Spinning around, I hurried over to the door and twisted the knob. She locked it. With a growl, I twisted the knob until I snapped the lock and then entered the room. ---- The sight of Angel on her knees clutching the toilet as she puked made worry fill me. I hurried over to her and crouched next to her to rub her back.

"Finished?" I asked when she was done. She shook her head and then nodded. Handing her a paper towel, I flushed the toilet and wrapped an arm around her waist to help her up. She rinsed her mouth a few times and then took a few sips of water before she straightened . The smile she gave me was strained. It was like she wanted to reassure me that she was okay, but it was easy to tell that she wasn't. She looked deadly pale.

I grabbed one of the towels and wet it partly to wipe the sweat from her upper lip and her forehead. "Do you want me to call the doctor?" "N-no." She swallowed. "I'll feel better after I lie down for a bit. The flying thing just messed with my stomach." My eyes darted over her face. I wanted to call the doctor, but I didn't want to be pushy. That was Lucas's job. Letting out a sigh, I picked her up and carried her to the couch.

---- "T just need to make a few calls and then we can go to the bedroom." Returning to the bathroom, I wet the towel again and walked over to her to place it down on her forehead. After grabbing a bottle of water from the mini-fridge in the corner, I placed it within her reach and crouched in front of the couch again. "Are you comfortable?" She smiled again as she reached out to press a shaky hand to my cheek. I leaned into her touch and allowed my eyes to flutter closed for a few seconds.

"T won't be long." "you have work to do, go. I'll be fine." She turned onto her side and got more comfortable . "If I'm not feeling better when you're done, we can go to the doctor so he can give me something for the nausea." "Do you want me to get you a bucket?" "The wet towel is helping. Thank you." Straightening , I pressed a kiss to her cheek and then hurried over to my desk. The sooner I made those calls, the sooner I could get her into bed.

Lucas didn't answer his phone, so I called Mason instead. They were headed back home with Xavier and the guard they took with him, but Lucas stayed behind to talk to the people. ---- Knowing him, he was going to get them to write their complaints and send them to him so he could go over every one of them. I made a few more calls to ensure that the castle was well protected and that there were guards available in case Lucas or Mason needed them.

Pushing my phone back into my pants pocket, I hurried over to Angel. Ihesitated next to the couch; she was sleeping. There was still paperwork that I needed to do. I needed to file a report for the council about everything that happened today. Angel was still pale. Leaning down, I pressed my palm against her forehead. It didn't feel like she had a fever. After everything her body went through...she should be in bed resting.

I knew that she was worrying about what was happening and stress wasn't good for her. Maybe I should call a doctor. A thought hit me, making my stomach drop. Reaching down, I pushed the hem of her shirt away from her shoulder. Mason's mark was an ugly red color. I muttered a curse. No wonder she was feeling sick, her mark needed to
