---- once our mate hates us for keeping her locked up?" With a glare in my direction , he stormed over to the window and flicked the curtain aside. Jealously hit as I watched his bond mark slithering around his skin. Why couldn't it have been me? I was the one who had been working Angel up to taking our knot so I could bond her. "You don't have time to think about this, Lucas," Nate said, eyes catching mine. "We're not wasting any more time.
As soon as Angel wakes up, we'll be bonding her." Lucas said nothing. He turned away from the window and glanced between us. Without another word and a glance at the bed where Angel slept, he stormed out of the room. Silence settled between us. Letting out a sigh, Nate took a seat and reached for a file. "T hope your plan works out," he said softly.
" Otherwise , the only other option is to take Angel as far away from here as possible." Kicking off my shoes, I pulled off my pants and shirt and then carefully crawled into bed next to Angel. A sigh fell from her lips. I froze, scared that I woke her, but she rolled closer and curled into my side. ---- "Don't worry, love," I whispered against her ear. " We're going to take care of you. Protect you." sek Nate crawled into bed a few minutes after midnight, but Lucas didn't appear again.

It left Angel a little restless. She finally settled between us after hours of tossing and turning. None of us have slept much. My mind was a mess. I was trying my best to find a solution to our problems . Nate's plan was the only working one we had at the moment. If the kingdom lost its leaders , there would be a war brewing. The other leaders would try to take over. They would fight for our land and all the people would have to get used to a new ruling system. It was a big risk.
Letting out a sigh, I reached out and tugged the sheets over Angel's shoulder. She shivered and moved closer, her brows dipping into a frown for a few seconds before it cleared. Ihesitated a moment before I reached out to press my palm against her forehead . Her fever was gone, and Nate said that she ate when she woke up which was good. Despite all that, there was something different ---- about her, but I couldn't place my finger on it. "Is she going to accept our bonds?" I questioned.
Nate stirred. "We'll have to be upfront with her," he said softly. "We've lied enough."
