Mated to Dragons novel

---- There was a portal in the mountains. What if nobody kidnapped Angel? What if she decided to try and find her own way home? I changed direction and pushed my beast to move faster. We were running out of time. I needed to get to her before she did something stupid. Before we lost her forever. Snow covered every mountain top, and it was still falling. Tomorrow morning another five inches of snow would cover the ground. Angel hated the cold. She wouldn't survive half an hour outside.

I was so lost in thought that my beast took over control. He was leading the way in another direction. The completely opposite direction as the portal. Where are we going? I questioned him. His only reply was a low growl. He flew halfway down the mountain and then took cover in the thick trees. Folding its wings close to his body, he lowered himself until our belly rested against the snow. What are we doing? What are we waiting for? Asound reached my ears, making me hold my breath.

---- "How much are we getting paid again?" a male voice questioned. "Now nearly enough," someone else growled. "I fucking hate the cold." "At least she gave us permission to have some fun before we need to kill her," a third man hissed. "I've been dying to have a taste of her. It was hell with her walking around the castle and having to keep my distance." "T've heard rumors. The brothers are fucking the human which is why she wants us to get rid of her." One of the men scoffed.

They fell silent but it was hard to miss the sound of their footsteps in the snow. Movement to the left made my eyes dart in that direction. We watched through the branches as they approached. Four men. Two were dressed in black and two were dressed in uniform. My own men betrayed me. I bit back a snarl. One of the men had Angel thrown over his shoulder. I could hear the faint beating of her heart.

"How much further are we supposed to go?" ---- "The queen said that we needed to get as far away from the castle as possible. We have at least two hours before the scent blockers wear off." "Well, we better make the best of our time. Remember , we need to get back to the castle before they suspect us." Slowing, the man dropped Angel onto the ground. My lips curled as a snarl rose in my throat. She was barely fucking dressed! She must be freezing. I stood, slowly inching out of my hiding spot.

My wings rose, spreading wide to make me look bigger than I already was. They were unaware of my approach. Circled around Angel, they stared down at her as they argued about who was going to get a taste first. With a low growl, my beast took a bite of the man closest to me. His blood filled our mouth, making satisfaction fill me. How dare they fucking touch my mate? Ascream echoed in the air. It was cut off when my jaw clamped around his neck, instantly killing him.

I turned, watching one of the bastards run off. Idiot, I growled at the man who had his sword pointed directly at me. ---- It would never penetrate my skin. Careful to keep my distance from Angel so I didn't accidentally hurt her, I charged the man. Within seconds his blood was soaking into the ground. Two of the men had gotten away and although I wanted to go after them to make them pay for what they had done, I couldn't leave Angel.

I stared down at her for a few seconds before I carefully reached out and slipped my hand underneath her body to pull her against my chest. Tilting my head back, I roared before I jumped and took off. Instead of heading to the castle, I turned and flew to my den. Angel was freezing. She needed to get warm. Ineeded to take care of my mate.
