---- "Will we make the announcement tomorrow at the coronation?" Mason questioned. Angel tensed, making me frown. "Tt's tomorrow?" "The sooner, the better," I told her. She frowned , eyes flashing with dismay. "Does that mean 1'll have to dress up and everything again?" My lips twitched. I didn't understand why she hated dressing up so much. She looked beautiful in the gowns, especially the ones that show off our marks. "Debora will help you dress," I told her.

"Mason made arrangements for it to be held early tomorrow morning. Only a few people have been invited , but it will be aired on TV for everyone who wants to watch." She pulled a face. "Do they have to?" Instead of answering, I kissed her. Aphone started ringing, making me pull away. I turned my head and frowned at Nate. He had a phone pressed to his ear, but he wasn't speaking, just silently listening. Angel shifted on my lap, pulling my attention back to her.

Leaning forward, she pressed her face to the crook of ---- my neck and sucked in a deep breath. She hummed as she wrapped her arms around my waist. "Do you have to go back to work?" I pressed my cheek to her forehead . "Not until after lunch." "Oh." Clearing his throat, Nate stood and made his way around the desk to join us. "Who called?" I asked as soon as he sat down. "Dad." I tensed. We hadn't spoken a word since what happened with Mother.

He had told Nate that there was only one way to fix things, but that hadn't made it any easier. She might not have loved us as a mother should have, but she had still given birth to us. If it hadn't been for her, we wouldn't be here. A scoff fell from my lips. A lot of things wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for her. Soft fingers brushed my cheek, making me snap back to reality. I blinked at Angel. "Tt's okay," she said softly.

---- Swallowing, I looked at Nate again, waiting for him to continue. "He wanted to know how things are going," Nate said softly. "Ts he coming to the coronation?" Angel asked softly. "T don't think so." "Did you invite him?" Nate glanced at me with a shake of his head. "You should." I didn't like the idea one bit. It was hard enough having to live with the fact that I killed my mother. The last thing I wanted to do was to see my father's pain.

"T don't think it's a good idea," Nate said softly. Angel turned to face me again. "I want him to be there. He helped me. He helped us." "T know that," I said softly. "I can't face him." "You're going to have to, sooner or later. You can't avoid him forever." Settling her down on the couch next to me, I stood and walked over to the window. My eyes darted up to the mountains. ---- "T'm not ready," I told them. Turning, I glanced between them.

Nate's eyes locked with mine for a few seconds before he looked away. "Let's eat," Mason said, breaking the tense silence. "I still have a few things to finalize for tomorrow."
