---- from my skin and slowly sat up. For a few seconds , the room around me spun. I squeezed my eyes closed until the spinning sensation stopped. A soft gasp made my eyes snap open. "Sire! No, no, no! It would be best if you didn't get up. You're still healing." I shook off the woman's touch and growled at her when she reached for me again. "Where is she?" I hissed. "Where's Angel?" The woman stepped back when I stood and straightened to my full height. "T,..she...next door.

Sire you really shouldn't-" Islammed the door shut, cutting off her sentence. The guard snapped upright when the door banged shut. I blinked at him, my frown clearing when I realized who it was. "Xavier." "You really shouldn't be up, your majesty." Isnarled at him. "Your...Angel is next door. I've been keeping a close eye on her. Nobody but your brothers and the doctor have been in to see her." ---- Xavier caught my arm when I stumbled, but thankfully he didn't comment on it.

He kept a tight hold on my arm as he led me the few steps to the next door. He knocked on it, and then after hesitating for a second, he pushed the door open. My eyes instantly locked on Angel. "Thank you," I breathed to Xavier. With a slight bow, he retreated, closing the door softly behind him. I leaned against the wall for a few seconds until I felt steady enough to walk over to the bed. Stopping next to it, I blinked down at her.

She was deadly pale, but her chest rose and fell in steady breaths. Leaning down, I pressed a soft kiss to her forehead. "Hello, little rabbit." I winced because the greeting sounded so formal. Reaching out with a shaky hand, I traced her cheekbone with my fingertips. I had no idea what happened after I passed out, and I couldn't tell how long I had been out. I needed to speak to a doctor to find out how Angel was doing. ---- My hand slipped down.

Gripping the hem of the gown she was wearing, I tugged it away from her body. A white bandage covered the wound , but my eyes were drawn to the other wound. My mark. I lightly traced it with my fingertips. There was a hitch in Angel's breathing the moment my fingers connected with her skin. Swallowing , I leaned down and pressed a kiss to it. "Lucas," Angel breathed. My eyes snapped to her face, but her eyes were still closed . It was like she hadn't even spoken .

My legs were starting to shake, the strain of moving around so fast after just waking up, was catching up with me. I pulled the chair by the bed closer and sank down on it. Taking hold of Angel's hand, I rested my forehead against our joined hands and closed my eyes. Soft voices pulled me from my sleep. Iraised my head and frowned at Mason sitting across from me. His eyes locked with mine for a few seconds before they darted down. He frowned. "You should still be in bed." "T needed to see if she was okay," I told him.
