---- 30. ANGEL I woke up as soon as Mason lowered me to the bed. Blinking sleepy eyes up at him, I frowned. Mason took a seat on the edge of the bed after covering me with the sheet. Reaching out, he stroked my cheek with a fingertip. "Thave to go," he said softly. "Oh." Mason hesitated. "We have another portal that opened in town and another one that appeared near the mountains. Someone went into the portal in town." He sighed. "We need to go and get them back." My heart dropped to my stomach.

Lucas had mentioned how dangerous it was to send people into the portal. They might never return. "You're not going to..." I trailed off, the question hanging in the air between us. "Take a warm bath," he ordered. "T'll get back as soon as I can. Please don't leave the room." Standing, he leaned down to press a kiss to my forehead. I pushed myself up onto my elbows to watch him ---- hurry out of the room. Falling back, I blinked up at the ceiling .

I wished I knew more about the portals so I could help them, but I knewas little as them. Please don't let anything happen to them, I silently begged. I stayed in bed for a few more seconds and then got up. A glance out the window assured me that it was still snowing. I sighed as I made my way into the bathroom on shaky legs. There was a dull ache between my legs, but it wasn't so bad.

Filling the bath with warm water, I set out a clean towel and some clean clothes before I slipped into the warm water. My eyes fluttered closed, a smile tugging at my lips as I remembered the scene we just had. It was definitely something different but very enjoyable. My mind drifted to the problem at hand as I washed myself with the pink soap all the bathrooms in the castle had.

The realm was created by magic so what if magic was the cause for all the portals suddenly appearing and disappearing ? Nobody had come through the portals except for me and at the moment the person in town who disappeared into the portal. I remembered the cold and the darkness when we ---- entered the portal from Earth. How the door slammed shut behind us and then disappeared . One moment my friends were in front of me and then the next they were gone.

I also didn't walk a long time before I fell from the portal and landed in another world. Does it look the same as the portal that was on Earth? A door that suddenly appears out of thin air? Or was it just a mysterious black hole? What if it was all connected? Were there other portals appearing in other places on earth? I didn't realize how long I had been in the bath until the water started cooling. Shaking all the thoughts from my head, I got out quickly dried myself, and got dressed.

If I remembered correctly there was a book in the library about time -traveling . I didn't exactly time- travel but maybe, just maybe there was something inside it that could help us. My steps faltered halfway to the door. Mason had told me to stay in the room. I bit my lip. If he had been called to town, Xavier was probably also there. They would have assigned mea new guard before leaving. He could escort me to the library.
