---- 28. ANGEL Despite the late night, I was up early the next morning because I couldn't sleep. Mason's words kept replaying over and over in my mind. I got up and made my way over to the window. Pulling the curtain aside, I glanced outside. Snow blanketed the ground and the flowers, but despite that, I still itched to go for a walk. I dressed in the warmest clothes I could find and then snuck out of the castle as quietly as I could. Cold air blasted me the moment I stepped out of the castle.
Wrapping an arm around my waist, I debated on going back inside, but a lone figure walking through the garden caught my attention. I nearly slipped the moment I stepped onto the snow, but I managed to regain my balance before I could fall. Lucas seemed to sense me approaching him because his steps slowed until he came to a full stop. He turned slightly and smiled at me. "you're up early," he muttered. "Couldn't sleep," I told him.

Lucas took hold of my hand and guided it to the crook of his arm as he started walking again. ---- My eyes darted over the flowers . Despite the snow, some of the flowers were still blooming beautifully . "Magic," Lucas whispered as if he could read my mind. "This whole realm is made out of magic." "T've never even considered the fact that magic existed or all the mythical creatures that live here," I muttered. "It almost feels like I got pulled into one of my books." "Tt does?" he questions.
"What type of books do you like to read?" Colour flooded my cheeks. That was not a question I expected him to ask me. I bit my lip, refusing to answer . We continued to walk in silence for a while. "Why are you up so early?" I asked him. Lucas hesitated. "I've been thinking about what Mason said last night." I glanced at him. Both of us were being kept up by the same thing. But I was sure that we were thinking different things about what Mason said. "He can be crazy sometimes ," Lucas muttered.
"But he has me thinking." "About me carrying your baby?" I questioned. His eyes locked with mine for a few seconds and then darted away. "I'm not going to lie and tell you that I ---- haven't thought about it. Imagining your stomach swollen with my baby makes my cock hard. But it's not going to fix my problems." I sighed, trying my best to get the image he just put in my head out. "Ts it because 'm human?" I blurted. "Partly," he answered honestly. Stopping , Lucas turned to look down at me.
His eyes darted over my face and then around us. Wrapping an arm around my waist, he pulled me against him and leaned down to kiss me. Breaking the kiss, he pressed his forehead against mine for a few seconds before he pulled back, but he didn't let me go. "T told you how this realm came to exist," he said softly. "Humans were the cause of most of our problems at the beginning. It's going to take a lot for our people to trust humans.
Even if I do what Mason suggests..." He slipped one of his hands to my stomach. "I can't only think of what I want. I need to think about my people and the future of my kingdom." I swallowed , frowning at him. "I don't understand ." Sucking in a deep breath, he blew it out in a loud sigh. He reached up and wrapped a strand of my hair around his finger. Lucas was thinking over his words
