---- Someone called after me, but I ignored it. In case I was being followed , I made my way directly to my office. Slamming my door shut, I flicked the lock in place and then made my way over to the wall behind my desk. My fingertips brushed along the wall until I found the dip. Lifting the wallpaper, I pressed the button and stepped back as I waited for the door to the secret tunnel to open. Ihesitated, staring into the darkness. What if she didn't want to see me?

Even with the question hovering in the back of my mind, I moved forward. It has been days since I last saw her. I needed to see her. Even if it meant that I only caught a glimpse of her. I walked through the secret tunnels and reached my wing of the castle within minutes. Checking to make sure that the coast was clear, I slipped out of the tunnel and closed the door behind me. I found myself at her bedroom door before I could think of an excuse why I shouldn't go through with it.

Sucking in a shaky breath, I opened the door and stepped into the room. Xavier was on his feet, a knife in each hand as he ---- faced the door, lips pulled into a snarl. His stance slowly relaxed when our eyes locked. "Sire," he breathed, bowing slightly. I nodded at him, but my eyes were instantly drawn to my mate. She sat on the couch, eyes locked on me. "Thank you, Xavier," Angel said softly. With a bow in her direction and one in mine, he hurried out of the room.

Angel stared at me for a few more seconds and then turned back to whatever she had been busy with. Licking my lips, I kicked off my shoes and then slowly approached her. I hesitated a few seconds before I took a seat on the sofa opposite her. "Xavier said that the funeral was today," she said softly. "I've made a list of things I want to gift the mom. Can you make arrangements for it to be delivered as soon as possible?" "Tecan." "T don't know if you get these things here.

It should make things easier for mom while she mourns the loss of her husband and son." "Pl get it for you." ---- "For her," she corrected. "I don't need anything." I tilted my head as I studied her. "Don't you?" She glanced at me and then turned her attention back to the book she was busy reading. My heartbeat increased when I caught sight of the title. If she was reading about mates, it meant that Nate had probably told her about it. Angel reached up and touched her shoulder.

I felt the same tug I had felt when I was having dinner. Reaching up, I touched the same shoulder and enjoyed the gasp that fell from her lips. Her eyes snapped to me. "Tell me what you want, little rabbit," I rasped. Her lips twitched and for a moment she said nothing as she stared at me. "I want you to stop lying to me." "Thaven't-" "You bonded me while you're still married to Queen Arabella. How could you do that to me? To her?" I growled, anger rising.

"She was fucking her bodyguard behind my back while we were still married. I wasn't the one who fucking cheated." I jumped to my feet and glared down at her. "She's pregnant with his child, not mine!" ---- Angel jumped to her feet, took a step closer, and pointed a finger at me. "Have you ever stopped to think about me?

You said that you don't want kids with me because you don't want your people to hate them, but you went ahead and bonded me without taking into consideration that I might actually already be pregnant because you bonded me!" Iblinked at her. Standing taller, I puffed my chest out. My beast was brimming with pride. We had made her ours; she carried our mark and would carry our baby in the future. "You're not pregnant," I told her. Not yet.
