---- 32. ANGEL Every inch of my skin was covered in goosebumps despite the layers of clothing I wore. My hands were numb, and I wasn't even going to mention my feet. I had been so focused on getting away from their mother that I hadn't really been paying attention to the snow. A gasp fell from my lips when I took another step forward and sunk knee-deep into the snow. I changed the direction and thankfully didn't sink into the snow again. The waterfall was frozen.

It looked just as beautiful as it looked the first time I saw it. With my eyes focused on it, I started walking again and ended up tripping over something. I fell face-first into the snow. The icy cold hit me, leaving me frozen until a roar from above had me snapping into action. I struggled to my hands and knees and then tilted my head back to look up at the sky. A dragon circling me from above. It moved lower and lower. I fell back on my ass when it suddenly swooped down towards me.

Its big paws hit the ground inches from my thighs. ---- I blinked at the scaly face hovering inches from my own. It growled, making me shiver because I could feel the vibrations all the way down to my toes. His nostrils flared. Fear made my stomach twist with nausea until it hit me that I had seen him before. The cold was affecting my brain more than I thought. "Are you Mason?" I questioned. It growled. I studied him, taking in his golden scales.

His eyes were almost the same color as his scales. My eyes locked on his wings which were folded against his body. "Nate?" I gasped when his tongue flicked out to lick my cheek. "That's so unhygienic," I muttered as I wiped my cheek. He made a sound that almost sounded like a laugh. Sitting up, I reached out with a shaky hand and pressed it to his snout. Nate held still, allowing me to touch every inch of him that I could reach. "you really are beautiful," I whispered.

"I bet you can see anything from up there." ---- My fingertips traced one of the horns on the top of his head. Nate spread his wings wide as he took a few steps back. Shit. He's really big. He had to be bigger than a house on Earth. Bones snapped as he started changing forms. Within seconds he stood a few feet from me completely naked. "What the hell are you doing out here?" he growled. "Do you have any idea how dangerous it is for you to be out here in the cold?" Nate stepped closer and gripped my shoulders to shake me slightly. "What if I hadn't decided to come back sooner?"
