---- I pulled on my boots and another coat. But when I opened the door, there was no one in the hall. I swallowed and hesitated a few seconds before I stepped out of the room and closed the door softly behind me. I was just going to go to the library, grab the book, and then hurry back to my bedroom. Nobody would know that I left my room unless I told them. My footsteps echoed in the halls as I walked. I tensed when I heard another pair of footsteps behind me. Was it a guard?

My steps increased. I turned a corner and gasped when someone grabbed hold of my arm, jerked me around, and slammed me back against the wall. Blood-red eyes glared down into mine. "T've been waiting a very long time to get you alone," she hissed. "He forgot to arrange guard dogs for you." Her hold on my arm tightened as her eyes darted over me. "What does he see in you?" Arabella asked. My lips parted but the only thing that escaped was a whimper.

It felt like she was going to snap my bone any second. I twisted my arm, trying my best to free it. ---- "Do you think he loves you?" "T know he doesn't ," I croaked. "You're hurting me. Please let go." "Arabella," a familiar voice called. My heart dropped to my stomach when their mother suddenly appeared. I should have probably done the same, but I was frozen in place, especially when her cold eyes locked on me. "you shouldn't be moving around in your condition," she told the queen. "Go rest. I'll take care of...this." With one last glare in my direction , she walked away. The woman took a step forward, eyes darting over me. Her lips curled into a sneer when she stopped in front of me. "you don't belong here," she snarled. "I can't understand why they are so obsessed with a puny human.
