---- 80. MASON "Unknown vehicle approaching ," one of the guards called. "How many?" I growled , eyes darting towards the gate. "Only one." I frowned. It has been quiet for most of the night. Lucas left me to deal with the families of the men we lost. I guessed it was better than me having to deal with Mother and Sutton. They had been gone for hours and I was starting to worry. But I knew that if something happened to them, I would have felt it.

Nate had been set on negotiating things which was probably why it was taking so long. "The dogs want to check things out." Ijerked in fright , eyes snapping to my left. "Where the hell did you come from?" Maurice smirked. "I'm sure I don't need to have the birds and the bees talk with you, Mason." "How did you get in here?" I asked. "Magic." ---- His smile widened when I growled at him. "What are you doing here anyway?" "Offering my help." The car stopped a few feet from the gate.

Nothing happened at first. I tensed, waiting for an attack. The backdoor of the car finally opened. "What a welcome ," the man drawled as he fixed his clothes. "Excuse me for not inviting you in," I muttered. "I'm sure that you're well aware of what happened yesterday." His eyes darted around, brows dipping into a frown. " It's hard to ignore the rumor when a kingdom so close to my own was attacked." I said nothing. The man's eyes locked with mine and then darted to Maurice at my side.

His lips twitched. "Does your father know where your loyalties lie, Maurice?" "Of course , I'd ask the same of you, but we all know that you have a bit of a double standard." He growled . "I came to offer my help, but I'm sure you already knew that, didn't you Maurice?" ---- I raised an eyebrow. Maurice sighed and shifted from foot to foot. I wasn't sure what he was waiting for. "My mate is certain she'll be able to help you," Knox growled.

"JT wasn't aware that you have a mate." "T haven't told anyone yet." The backdoor of the car suddenly opened again and a small woman climbed out. She was about the same height as Angel with a lot more curves. Knox turned to glare at the woman as she approached him. "I told you to wait in the car." "you were taking too long." My lips twitched. I already liked her even though I hadn't met her before. She reminded me a little of our mate. "Nalie," Knox growled.

The woman ignored him and walked right up to the gate. She grabbed the bars and pressed her face against the metal. Golden brown eyes locked with mine. "you're not the king," she muttered. I smiled at her. "I'm Prince Mason," I softly ---- introduced, moving a few steps closer. Maurice didn't stop me, but he moved with me. "My name is Nalan. My mother was one of the witches who helped create this realm.

She taught mea lot and left me everything when she died." "Pm sorry for your loss." She smiled. "Thank you, but it's not needed. She died a long time ago." "You said that you can help us?" I questioned. Nalan nodded. Her eyes darted over the castle and then locked on me again. "Where is King Lucas?" "He should be back soon," I told her instead of answering. She nodded. "We can wait until King Lucas gets back. It's best if he's present." I nodded.

I might have some say in these things, but it was Lucas's word that counted the most. He would love to hear what Nalan had to say and what kind of help she offered. "Let them in," Maurice urged softly. "They can be trusted." I studied him. "Are you sure?" "Trust me."
