---- 25. NATE I loved winter. Our realm was made especially for us which meant that the weather patterns were adjusted just for us. It was mostly cold weather, but some warm days lasted for two weeks a month. Winter could last for months. But with the portals appearing, our weather was a mess. We woke up to icy winds and the ground covered ina thick layer of snow. It was the perfect opportunity for us to go out flying. Xavier was keeping an eye on Angel.
I trusted him to protect her if it was needed. Mason flew past me, knocking into me in the process. I barely avoided hitting a tree. Growling at him, I picked up speed. *We should head back* Mason muttered through the mind-link. *We've been gone for a few hours.* I changed direction to show him that I agreed. We left at dawn before she was awake. My eyes fluttered closed for a few seconds as I enjoyed the wind blowing against my scales and under the ---- thin membranes of my wings.
With everything happening at the castle , we barely had any time to enjoy our other form. Inno time the castle came into view. Ihuffed a breath and started circling as I moved lower and lower to the courtyard. Snow kicked up from the force of my feet as I landed. The cold seeped into my skin, but I paid no mind to it. Stretching my wings out once more, I folded them against my body and turned to watch Mason as he did a dramatic swoop and dropped to the ground.

His lips curled back, showing sharp teeth in what I supposed was to be a cheeky grin. He tilted his head up to look at the castle. Curiosity had me following his gaze just in time to see a flash of blond hair. It didn't take long for her to appear in the doorway leading out to the courtyard. Xavier was right behind her, looking flustered. Iturned my attention back to Angel and watched as she slowly made her way towards us. Mason moved to my side and together we watched our mate approach us.
It was the first time Angel was seeing us fully shifted. ---- She hadn't freaked out when she saw me partly shifted, but this was different. This was the most important part. Our future depended on it. If she rejected us now, I didn't know what we were going to do. Angel's approach was slow but steady. She didn't jerk away whenever we moved or shifted from foot to foot. When she reached us, she tilted her head back and just stared. Imade the first move.
Lowering myself to my stomach , I nudged my head towards her. She hesitated a few seconds before she reached out and pressed her palm to my nose. Fingertips traced the scales and then moved down to trace my big nose holes. I huffed at her and pulled away slightly. Pressing a palm to the underside of my jaw, she used her other hand to slip it higher up my face to the top of my head. She pulled away and then turned towards Mason. She traced his scales the same way she had traced mine.
"You're bigger than I expected," she said softly. " Beautiful." ---- Mason took a few steps back, stretched his wings, and then reared back on his hind legs before he started shifting back. Angel flinched as the sound of bones snapping filled the air, but she didn't look away from him. Her mouth dropped open in awe. "T-that was fast," she breathed. "The first shift is the hardest ," Mason told her as he approached .
"It hurts like hell, and it takes a lot of getting used to, but after your..." He made a hand gesture. "Say third shift, it gets easier." "Aren't you cold?" she asked him, eyes darting over his naked form. "This cold is made for us, baby." Rolling my eyes, I took a few steps back and shifted back to human. "You can get to your duties ," I told Xavier . "Thank you." Xavier bowed slightly.
"King Lucas asked me to remind you that dinner will be at five tonight." "Thaven't forgotten." I stared at him until he disappeared from sight. "Tonight?" Angel frowned. "I thought it was on
