---- 82. ANGEL He refused to let me leave. Brian even allowed me to go to the entrance of the den so I could see that there was no way for me to get out of the den on my own. I was forced to wait and I hated every second of it. My mates were hurting and there was nothing I could do about it. I could feel Mason's worry through our bond. Being in the dark was something I hated. I wanted to know what was happening, I wanted to know if one of them got hurt. "T made you lunch." I glanced at Brian.

"Tm not hungry." "You need to keep your strength up," he growled. Glaring at him, I took the plate he held out and resumed my pacing as I took small bites of the sandwich he made. How much longer did they expect me to wait? Ionly managed to eat half the sandwich because my stomach was already in knots. It felt like the walls ---- were starting to close in on me. At least pacing kept me warm. It felt like the temperature was dropping the longer we were inside the den.

My chest fluttered and an emotion filled me. Reassurance filled me and then another emotion I couldn't make sense of. My eyes snapped to Brian when he stood. Frowning, I watched him as he disappeared down the tunnel. I placed my plate down and hurried after him. He stood a few feet from the entrance, waiting. It wasn't long before I heard the flap of wings. A few minutes later a dragon came into view. My eyes locked on the man sitting on top of him in the saddle.

Brian took a few steps back and waited. The dragon got closer and gracefully landed on the ledge. He folded his wings against his body and lowered himself so his rider could get off. I threw myself at Nate the moment his feet touched the ground. He hugged me tightly with his face buried against the crook of my neck. Nate pulled away after a few minutes and pressed a kiss to my forehead. "T need to talk to Father alone for a few minutes," he ---- said softly.

"Wait here with Lucas." I nodded and turned to watch as they disappeared into the den again. A gasp fell from my lips when Lucas nudged me from behind. I spun around to glare at him, but it faded as the overwhelming sadness filled me again. I turned to face him fully and reached out to press a hand to his snout. One of his wings wrapped around my back, pulling me even closer to him. Turning my head, I pressed my cheek to his cold scales. "Something bad happened, didn't it?" I asked him.

"I could feel it." Pulling back, I studied his golden eye close to my face. Emotions swirled in the golden depth, the same emotions filling my chest. "T feel you," I whispered. "Tell me how to make it better." Of course, he couldn't speak. Cupping his snout, I leaned forward and pressed my lips to the top of his nose. "It's going to be okay," I told him. Ihad no idea if it was really going to be okay. The other kingdoms were attacking us because of the ---- portals.

By now I was sure that Lucas had come up with a plan to fix it. I wasn't sure about their mother though. They had her locked up, but for how long were they going to keep her inside that cell? Footsteps sounded behind me. I turned to find Nate hurrying towards me. His face was blank. "Let's go," he said softly. "You remember how to get in the saddle?" I nodded, eyes darting behind him. Brian didn't return. "Come on." Nate wrapped an arm around my waist and guided me to Lucas's side.

He gripped my hips and lifted me onto his back. I turned, settling in the saddle. For a few seconds , Nate hesitated and then climbed up behind me. Lucas slowly stood and turned around. He leaped into the sky just as Nate's arms slipped around my waist. I wanted to know everything . But asking questions while we were in the air wouldn't do me any good. The castle came into view, and the closer we got, so did the man waiting for us.
