---- 63. ANGEL I clung to Nate's hand as we hurried towards the castle. The gates slammed closed behind us, once again cutting us off from the town's people. An argument had broken out while we were entering the courtyard. That must have been what Prince Maurice meant when he said things were about to get interesting. Mason's fingers dug into my hip slightly as we followed Lucas. Prince Maurice was walking next to him, strangely silent.

It would be so easy to forget his presence if he continued to remain silent. He was an interesting man and if my theory was correct , maybe he could help us fix everything before more people got hurt. Lucas led the way to his office. He opened the door and waited for all of us to enter before he closed it firmly behind us. Nate squeezed my hand and let go. Mason, however, led me over to the couch and pulled me down on his lap.

"What is this theory?" Prince Maurice walked over to ---- the window and leaned back against the wall next to it, one ankle crossed over the other and arms folded over his chest. He looked relaxed, but his eyes betrayed him. "This realm was created with magic." I paused. " What if there's something wrong with the magic that created the realm and that's why the portals are suddenly appearing." Silence. I licked my lips, suddenly feeling nervous. "The portal I came through was like a black hole.

It was cold and dark. There wasn't anything else around or anyone there, but the other portal..." I trailed off when I realized that they were all staring at me. Lucas cleared his throat and slowly straightened from where he had been sitting behind his desk. Walking over to the shelf, he traced the spines of the books until he pulled one out. He walked back to the desk and placed it down before he opened it. Curiosity had me climbing off Mason's lap and making my way over to Lucas.

I stared down and the pages and frowned. It was written in a different language. Most of the books in the library were written in English, but this language was unfamiliar. It was like something I had never seen. ---- "This book was written by one of the witches who participated in the ritual to create our realm," Lucas said softly. "Everything used, who helped them, it's all in here." "What language is it?" I asked him. "Tm not sure what they call it," he muttered.

"This should have all the information we need." I frowned down at the book. "Can you read it?" "Some of it." Turning , I searched the room until I located Nate. I walked over to him and smiled when he instantly pulled me against his chest. He had covered his mark with a bandage, so the clothes didn't irritate it too much. It ached, but not badly. Lowering his head, he pressed his forehead to mine and searched my eyes. "How are you feeling?" he asked. "Fine." Nate raised an eyebrow.

Letting out a sigh, I pressed my body closer to his and buried my face against the crook of his neck. I sucked ina breath and bit back a whimper when his scent filled my nostrils, and I was suddenly hit with a wave of need that made my knees weaken. ---- Nate's hold tightened and his chest vibrated when he made a sound at the back of his throat. I tilted my head slightly and pressed my lips to his skin. My tongue flicked out to taste his skin, making him shiver. Someone cleared their throat.

"T will look into what your mate said," Prince Maurice said softly. "Do what you can from your side. I'll be in touch." I pulled away from Nate and turned to look at him. His eyes were already locked on me. Prince Maurice smiled at me and then bowed low. "It was nice seeing you again, Angel. I'm sure we will be seeing each other again very soon." His smile had turned secretive. "T'll walk you out," Mason said, following closely behind him.

Colour flooded my cheeks when I realized that Lucas was staring at me. "S-sorry," I apologized. He shook his head and gestured for me to come closer. Nate pressed his hand to the small of my back and urged me forward.
